  • Good Grip Time Saver
I just finished creaming a large bag of corn, and this tool made the job so much easier! It was comfortable to grip, glided smoothly along the cob, and removed the kernels and juice with ease. Best of all, it kept the mess from spraying everywhere. I would definitely recommend it for anyone who processes fresh corn. ... show more

  • Peeling corn was never so easy
I I good grips corn prep peeler is a great choice if you want to peel fresh corn. It really helped save time with the 50 ears of corn I put in the freezer. The size was as described and the blade is still sharp after using so the peeling ability is something I will use again and again. Great value for the money ... show more

  • Works very well, be sure to remove the blade protecter tape.
Picture yourself eating sweet corn with 5 inches of snow on the ground in your soup or chili. This OXO GOOD CORN PEELER works very well, it took an ear or 2 to figure best way for me to use. First off, TAKE OFF THE LITTLE BLADE PROTECTOR TAPE. (it does not say anywhere on the package to take it off) I thought it was pretty dull running finger over testing( I sharpen knives, just habit I guess), then I looked closer, voila clear plastic piece over the blade, duh? WARNING THE BLADE IS VERY SHARP! I started out with the ear of corn flat on a 1/4 sheet baking pan with a plastic block to push against, drawing the peeler towards me, but it did not suit me that way. So I went to my previous set up when I used a knife and free hand cut them. I placed the ear on top of the bottom of a flipped over small ramekin type dish vertically and drew the peeler down with my thumb behind the cob as I drew down. So much easier, cleaner corn and MUCH MUCH FASTER. The corn does jump around a bit if you pull fast but not a problem. It has a rubber gripped back and sides, stainless steel blade, dishwasher safe and was very ergonomic for me and my wife. My hands are medium sized. It also has a hole in the handle if you have storage like that. We own several OXO GOOD items and this one did not disappoint. I recommend this product, and have already recommended it to the farmers we get our corn from every year, for the last 20 years. I do not know how long the blade will last yet. I will be processing more to freeze and will report any updates I think would help anyone. CORN COOKING: I grill all our corn. Depending on how hot your grill is, mine runs very hot on lowest setting (all 6 burners on low but can do 24 ears at once) 500 degrees flipping every 1.5 minutes after flipping them all for a total of 6-8 minutes depending on how grilled you like them. We microwave them frozen so do not over cook and deflate the kernels. We like them with 1/4 of the cob of grill marks, fantastic color in salads, chili(we like it in our chili every so often) and soups. ... show more

  • I’ll stick with just eating corn off the cob like I always have
I am a big fan of good grips products . I found this corn stripper to work pretty well because it’s sharp and a good product with great grips . That said next season I’ll be striping just a bit of corn for soups in the winter . I tried this tool on huge thick ears of corn with very deep kernels last august . The tool worked well but was not quite deep enough for this over sized corn I had. I’ll be using it again next year for fresh corn for winter soups. I think with some practice I could stop a dozen ears fairly quickly . It’s a good tool but don’t plan on stripping a huge harvest of fresh corn in the cob . It’s great for when you have leftover corn to strip and freeze though . I have a small hand and it worked well for keeping a grip . Possibly it could be a bit deeper for large kernels . I don’t know because this was the first time I ever tried to strip corn off a cob. The tool made it fairly easy and the blade stated firm and very sharp . ... show more

  • Great Little Corn Peeler
I bought 3 corn peelers on Amazon as an experiment. This one functioned extremely well and cleanly shaved the kernels off the cob. It was a close second to the Lunerku brand (to the left of the OXO in the photograph) which is a higher quality utensil. Having said that, I don't think anyone would regret buying this OXO Good Grips model. Some may even like it better for handling and its slightly lighter weight. ... show more

  • Great Corn Peeler
This item is great for taking corn off the cob. Bought it because of the positive reviews for ease of use and efficiency. It works GREAT.

  • It was worth a try
I cut fresh corn off the cob pretty frequently so I was hoping for a tool that would make this quicker and neater than using a knife. Unfortunately, this does neither of those things. It does a good job getting close to the cob, but it doesn’t really have a smooth motion, so you wind up with a jagged line wear some places it’s closer to the cob and others not close at all. I would say the worst part is that it makes much more of a mess than using a knife does. I’m in the habit of covering things in the area with a tea towel when I am cutting corn, but the spray from this was all over me and corn kernels went flying. So, it works if you’re not all that comfortable doing it with a knife, but it’s not going to be my chosen method going forward. ... show more
