I wish I had bought this years ago!
This corn kernel remover works great once you get the hang of it. I have always stripped ears of corn using a chef's knife... why buy a tool when I have a knife that can do the same job? Well, it is MUCH easier and faster with this tool, that's why. It takes a minute to figure out how to get it started and get a neat even cut. Once I got going with it, I wish I had bought it years ago Like pretty much everything OXO, the quality is excellent. This tool is plenty sharp for the job and isn't going to fall apart. Well made. Good value. Quality design and construction. I expect to have and use this tool for a very long time. Highly recommend this corn kernel stripper. I will also be buying more to give as gifts to my cook friends.

Works very well, be sure to remove the blade protecter tape.
Picture yourself eating sweet corn with 5 inches of snow on the ground in your soup or chili. This OXO GOOD CORN PEELER works very well, it took an ear or 2 to figure best way for me to use. First off, TAKE OFF THE LITTLE BLADE PROTECTOR TAPE. (it does not say anywhere on the package to take it off) I thought it was pretty dull running finger over testing( I sharpen knives, just habit I guess), then I looked closer, voila clear plastic piece over the blade, duh? WARNING THE BLADE IS VERY SHARP! I started out with the ear of corn flat on a 1/4 sheet baking pan with a plastic block to push against, drawing the peeler towards me, but it did not suit me that way. So I went to my previous set up when I used a knife and free hand cut them. I placed the ear on top of the bottom of a flipped over small ramekin type dish vertically and drew the peeler down with my thumb behind the cob as I drew down. So much easier, cleaner corn and MUCH MUCH FASTER. The corn does jump around a bit if you pull fast but not a problem. It has a rubber gripped back and sides, stainless steel blade, dishwasher safe and was very ergonomic for me and my wife. My hands are medium sized. It also has a hole in the handle if you have storage like that. We own several OXO GOOD items and this one did not disappoint. I recommend this product, and have already recommended it to the farmers we get our corn from every year, for the last 20 years. I do not know how long the blade will last yet. I will be processing more to freeze and will report any updates I think would help anyone. CORN COOKING: I grill all our corn. Depending on how hot your grill is, mine runs very hot on lowest setting (all 6 burners on low but can do 24 ears at once) 500 degrees flipping every 1.5 minutes after flipping them all for a total of 6-8 minutes depending on how grilled you like them. We microwave them frozen so do not over cook and deflate the kernels. We like them with 1/4 of the cob of grill marks, fantastic color in salads, chili(we like it in our chili every so often) and soups.

Love this Corn 🌽 Peeler
This corn peeler worked wonderfully! It removed the kernels quickly + easily, saving me so much time while processing a large amount of fresh sweet corn from my garden. It was comfortable to hold, simple to use + removed the kernels close to the cob without making a huge mess. I would definitely recommend it to anyone freezing, canning or preparing fresh corn!

Makes quick & easy work of stripping kernels off the cob!
Wow, this OXO corn prep peeler is amazing! The grip is comfortable and secure, and you don't have to fiddle with getting the angle just right. The angle of the serrated blade adjusts as you draw the peeler along the corn cob. The action is very easy, and 4-5 passes, and the kernels are off. I was surprised at how fast this process went. I'm very pleased with this purchase, and just in time to hit the farm stands for luscious corn!

Glides through the kernels
Works great. This makes my life so much easier. My daughter loves street corn but she likes it off the cob. It is so much easier with this than a knife and it saves a lot of the corn kernels.

Not Ideal for Blanched Corn or Limited Hand Strength
I was really excited to try this because it made removing corn kernels look so easy. We buy sweet corn in bulk from a local farm and blanch it before cutting it off the cob to freeze, so the corn is not fully cooked. That may have contributed to some of the difficulty I had using this. I have pretty bad arthritis in my hands, so I was hoping this would make the process easier. On the first cob, it seemed to work well at first, but when I looked closer, it had only removed the top half of many of the kernels, leaving a lot of corn behind on the cob. It works somewhat like a potato peeler, but I found that I had to hold it at a very specific angle and use quite a bit of firm pressure to get the full kernels off. If I didn’t have the angle exactly right, it would cut into the cob itself, leaving small pieces of cob mixed in with the kernels, which made them unpleasant to eat. I eventually stopped using it because the amount of pressure and control required was difficult with my arthritis, and I was also becoming concerned that I might slip and cut myself. This may work much better on fully cooked corn, but unfortunately it didn’t work well for our blanched sweet corn and wasn’t as easy or arthritis-friendly as I had hoped.
