The handles provide a non-slip grip and absorb pressure so you can grip, toss, turn and flip with comfort and control. The Tongs lock closed for compact storage when hanging or in a drawer. The 9-in/22.5 cm size fits comfortably in the hand. Dishwasher safe. Also available in 12-inch size. Not only do these 9-inch tongs cushion hands and provide thumb rests, which are useful when gripping heavy objects, but the nylon heads won’t scratch nonstick cookware. Doubling as a hang loop, a tab on the bottom pulls out to lock the stainless-steel tongs shut, allowing them to slip easily into a drawer. Yet another great product form OXO. Works well and safe to use with nonstick pans. I hope I never have to use those crappy old scissor type tongs ever again. I have two pair of these and purchased another for a family member. If you have an air fryer (and if you don’t, you need to just sign in and get one) you use tongs to fish your food out of the basket. These are the tongs you want! Press down to lock, pop up to unlock, grab your food and eat. Silicone handles are great for no slip usage, and silicone tips that won’t scratch your expensive whatever the heck it is you are scraping the tongs against. Not too long, not too short, just right. They’re very grippy too, so your steak won’t slither out and plop on the floor to be eaten by your dog (that’s my story and I’m sticking to it). These used to be the perfect tongs, really great quality. But my husband tends to abuse them & they get lost (?!) or somehow melts the black parts, so I have replaced them a few times. This last time, the tongs didn’t open properly when unlocked. They usually have a very satisfying spring back open. This one was so slow you nearly have to pry them open manually. I exchanged them for a new pair. They seemed fine but now, after minimal use, they are also slow to open. Not as bad as the returned pair, but definitely not an efficient spring action. These are a good basic size tong for use in cooking. They seem comfortable and fairly easy to clean. The locking mechanism works but could be better. It is good they lock to take up less space but it is at the top and requires you to pull out or push in.
