These are truly blackout, with a nice coating on the wrong side of the curtain. They have kept the room much cooler and haven't disintegrated in our strong Florida sun. The color was accurate as depicted in the Amazon ad; they call it "gold" but I have always thought it khaki, which is exactly what I was looking for. Before I hung them I washed them in cold perm press short cycle, with a mild detergent and no softener, and laid them flat to dry; I didn't iron them at all, nor did I put them in the dryer for fear of destroying the backing. I used 3 of these for three small windows over the kitchen sink. I wanted short length for privacy but still able to see sky. These are opaque when closed. Great color, a gold sheen to it to match kitchen wall paper accents. And an excellent buy.
