I have a medium sized, 35lb, mixed breed dog. I have no idea what he is, I got him from a shelter, but so far they think he is a mix between a portuguese sheepdog and maybe a schnauzer. He is not a destroyer or a super aggressive chewer but he loves the squeaky noises and goes at them until they squeak no more, which is usually a few days-a week. This toy was twice as much as I normally pay but wanted to try since it said it would squeak even after its punctured. Its about 36 inches, a little furry, soft and has 6 squeakers. I wasn't sure how it would go since its longer than my dog. I thought it was going to be awkward for him to play with but, OMG, he LOVES it, he doesn't even play with the other toys anymore. When I play with him, I'll dangle it like a pendulum and he goes wild trying to get it. Normally with the smaller toys, he'll sometimes get my hand trying to get to the toy but with the length of this one, my hand is safe. I'll also put it on the floor and wriggle it around like a snake so he can pounce on it. He entertains himself with it for hours and carries it with him everywhere. He grabs it from the middle so it dangles from his mouth. If he doesn't get it right, he'll put it down and rearrange it in such a way that he can carry it. When he is in a hurry he drags it tripping all over it.. but he won't leave it behind. The larger size also makes it harder for him to lose and for me to spot when he leaves it outside. I am really happy with it, obviously, my dog is, too. So far this has been the best toy i've gotten him and i've tried quite a few. These are some of the toys I've gotten him that have met their end at his paws. Crazy Critters Stuffing-Free Dog Toys, Set of 6 Milk-bone Brand Accessories - Sea Critter Chew - Squeaks KONG Sitting Frog Dog Toy, Medium, Green Petstages Just For Fun No Stuffing Plush LiL Squeak Monkey Dog Toy for Small Dogs ...and countless others from the store. I can't say exactly how long they lasted but usually nor more than a week. Normally I buy $5 toys that lasts 3-7 days. This one was like $12 but it has already been a week and its still in pretty good condition. I will update this later when the toy meets his end to see how long it lasts. UPDATE: 1/5/13 Its now been 2.5 weeks and the toy is still squeaking its protest against my dogs incessant abuse... One more update - 4/21/13 Some of the squeakers have stopped squeaking but its still his favorite toy. I usually purchase toys every 2-3 weeks and it has been over 4months. Am buying another one!

Finally found these. My extremely rough and chewing medium/large 65 pound dog has had a smaller version of this for over 6 months. Hint: She can eat a 6" pressed rawhide bone in a very few hours. A one day thing. Yes - This toy will wear out. Specifically the squeakers - after a LOT of hard squeaks. They aren't magic. Not knowing where my wife bought the original, I ended up buying 3 other totally unsuitable substitutes. Lame to the extreme. Died quickly. THIS brand ( Outward Hound) is the exact same as the original. Multiple squeakers, right tone. I bought this X-Large 40 inch replacement and a 24.5 inch which is the same as the original..And the Amazon price beats all the Pet Supply companies ( who sold me crappy dog toys). The original that has been often used was down to one squeaker and she was giving it heck yesterday. Today? New Toys!!!

Review of Outward Hound Durablez Snake – Squeaky Plush Dog Toy, No Stuffing for Less Mess, Interactive & Tough, 6 Jumbo Squeakers, Puppies & Dogs, X-Large, 40" My best friend brought her 16-month-old German Shepherd up for a visit and I happen to love him to pieces! A few months ago, I bought the smaller version of this same toy snake for him and he LOVED it. Many squeaker toys he has eventually torn up, as puppies and others do. The smaller only has a small tear in the butt-end from playing some minor tug of war with it. This larger version is made just as well and with the same materials. It is very durable, but there are no toys indestructible. The only difference is the length, and it has 6 JUMBO squeakers as opposed to 5 smaller ones. It got here on the day of this post and he has not stopped playing with it! Now if you’re one that squeakers get on your nerves, this is not for you. But, if you’re like me and truly enjoy watching (and hearing) a fur baby having so much fun, then buy this now! The price is very reasonable in my humble opinion. It is Ryker Der Hauswolf approved and I recommend it.

Purchased this toy for our dog daycare/boarding business because it has no stuffing and thought it would be great for our foreign body dogs who eat stuffing since there is none. Well, it was great for multiple dog tug o war, the fabric is super durable, held up pretty well til they ripped it at the seam. However let a sneaky super chewer get hold of it and it’s done for within an hour. Yes it’s made well , has a large squeaker inside almost every section. Keeps the dogs entertained, it’s very long which is awesome, even the little dogs drag it around and pounce on it. But, it’s not durable enough for chewers unless the dog isn’t a destroyer . The seams along the edges are reinforced well takes a bit for the Lil dogs and moderate chewers ta get through to those plastic squeakers . Dogs w more power, well it doesn’t last. They love it though so we just cut off the pieces as they got ripped and threw out the squeakers as they came out so they could still play with it until it totally died. Granted our clientele consists of mostly large breed dogs w behavior issues/ toy destroyers/and extremely high energy (the ones that other daycares won’t accept) Rotties, Staffies, mixes n such with power jaws so when a toy is listed as indestructible or almost we try them and let the dogs just HAVE it to see what it’s got or not. So I wouldn’t recommend this toy for power dog tug o war or unsupervised chewing. But if you only have one dog who just plays it’s great or a few who just play. So all in all great toy for non chewers and light to some moderate. And great for the roughhousers n power chewers if supervised and you’re willing to throw out pieces as they get torn off or ripped out before they get eaten. Please see photos. We will purchase again next month and pick up the pieces because the dogs love it and it makes them happy.

Snake, worm, whatever, my dog doesn’t care, she loves it all the same. My little friend can be kinda rough with her toys. This is no exception. The pictures are from roughly one month of giving it to her and include playing with it at least every other day or so. The top is holding up well, but the bottom has taken some damage, and two of the squeakers have long since been destroyed. Despite this, my dog still loves playing with it. We normally play tug of war together, but on her own she chews at it to get to the squeakers inside, which she promptly destroys, which I’m totally fine with, as quiet toys are much preferred, by me, not her. I believe there are 4 in the XL size that we got. We’ve had a few of these in the past. We tend to get about 6 months out of them. After she “lovingly” removes the squeakers, she doesn’t chew on it much, and we just use it for tug of war, but at that point she’s done enough damage to the underside that its time is limited. But, as it’s pretty low priced, for the time and enjoyment we do get out of it, it’s very much worth it. I do need to clarify, the durability is actually quite good, I don’t fault the product as at all, it’s just my dog is equally as good with destruction, but it should be noted this toy does last much longer than most of her victims. The color, (we got the blue and green) is also very vivid and nice, as is the texture. We’ll be purchasing again.

I ordered this in advance of the arrival of my 11 wk old Corgi pup. Not knowing what kind of a chewer I was getting, I wanted something that squeaked but did not have too many extremities to rip and tear at. I also didn't want too much stuffing to end up all over my house and in my buddy's tummy. It is soft and well constructed. I like that the snake is compartmentalized so that if one segment is breached, the others are not. As it turned out, at this time, my pup is not a violent ripper (except for with paper and cardboard). After a week of testing, it is his favorite toy. It took him about two days to figure out how to squeak it and boy does he love it. It is the only toy he will haul around, which is hilarious because its bigger than he is. It is also the only toy that he will play fetch with. I'm also working on "leave it" with the with him. Nemo chews a lot, but hasn't shown much interest in ripping at his toys, so after a week (if it were washed) it could probably pass as new. I also try to switch him over to a bone or rubber toy when he starts getting really excited. I am weary since my last dog was a lab who would shred her toys in seconds. Nemo was ripping at the tag (something about paper) so I cut that off to prevent a seem getting opened up. I'm surprised that the tongue is still intact. The tongue and eyes are weak links and Nemo does like to chew on them. Overall, I'm very pleased with this toy. My husband was skeptical and thought it a bit ridiculous, but even he has decided it was a good buy. *Update* Our original snake lasted 7 months. Nemo loved it. He would carry it around with him and squeak it till my husband and I went insane. He had mastered the rapid fire squeak. It was also the only toy he would reliably fetch. After 7 months my pup had punctured two of the squeakers and the fur was getting threadbare in some place. But overall we were very happy with the product. Last week we had a guest GSP at our home and he demolished the toy within minutes. Shredded all of the squeakers and the casing. So we were forced to get Nemo a new one. Unfortunately they have since changed the design. There is now a piping that goes all the way around the snake (before it was blind stitched). Nemo has a thing about tags and edges, he works slowly and methodically to nibble them off. Once the piping was compromised, Nemo had easy access to the squeakers. This new version of the toy lasted only a few hours. I am extremely disappointed with the changes made. I have reduced my 5 star review to 1 star and will no longer recommend this product.

We have a pair of one year old Boston Terriers. This breed loves to chew and tug on their toys. This is their favorite toy. They quickly learned that they can quickly get the squeakers out by focusing on the joint where the binding laps over the other end. This should be sewn more securely at the factory. As it is, just one of our dogs can open up this joint in under 30 minutes, peel back the binding and then tear at the edge of the fabric until it separates. They have yak cheese and plastic chew toys and they also chew those, but I think their favorite object in the whole world is a loose squeaker from inside this toy. We have bought these toys for years. They used to last longer and I think the reason is that this lap joint isn't being sewn as well as it once was.
