  • Great book!
Excellent book for recreating historically correct landscaping for craftsman style houses. The arts and crafts intellectual movement - and the architecture and landscaping associated with it - renounced the orderly control and mechanization so symbolic of the Victorian Era, choosing instead to embrace the natural world and the human place within it. This book delves into all that to help the reader understand the philosophy of the movement and it's effect on home landscapes. It also provides lots of period examples illustrating proper A&C landscaping, along with historically appropriate garden accessories (fencing, etc). The book provides lots of pictorial examples of modern A&C landscaping executed in keeping with the A&C movement. I find myself referring to this book regularly. It's lots of fun! ... show more

  • Nice book in really great but lightly used condition!
For a used book it showed up looking like a new one and very well packaged to boot! Informative too since I'm getting ready to landscape my 1910 Bungalow after tearing everything out - nothing but fence and dirt! No regrets on my purchase! Great seller!

  • Outside the Bungalow
I was looking for ideas to use in planning some landscaping for my craftsman bungalow. This book met that need, and then some, with lots of detail and plenty of photos. I especially liked the period landscape designs. All in all, a good book for casually perusing or for reading in more depth.

  • A gem of a book, particularly if you own a bungalow
I'm currently renovating a 1920-era bungalow, and this book has been a real treat and a great resource for planning the landscaping of my property. The photography is absolutely first-rate, and the wide scope of examples provides an overwhelming amount of options to consider. This book is a real treasure for anyone who enjoys the art of the bungalow, whether they're simply a fan, or an owner looking for ideas to improve his or her home. In addition to this book, I also own others in the "series" that deal with the interior design elements. ... show more

  • Informative, useful and looks good.
I've got about 10 garden books and this is my top favorite right now. What I like best is that the gardens featured are from small, typical homes. Most garden books show gardens most people can never afford. I appreciate the combination of old photos of bungalow gardens and new photos. I find the diagrams of arbors and fences from the 1920's useful. I want my garden to compliment my bungalow and look timeless. This book will definitely help. ... show more

  • Amazing
This book is beautiful. I wanted to walk through the gardens and enter the homes. It provided valuable information, instructions for creating comforting retreats in your own yard. Its a pleasure to read. I loved it.

  • Good Plant Info
Great that the botanical names are used for the plant suggestions. A lot of "filler" or redundant text included but the photos are good and self-explanatory.
