I prefer nonplastic containers for my vegetables but if you have to use plastic, this polypropylene (PP) is one of the safer ones. This vertical garden is the best I could find because the individual boxes are deeper than most vertical gardens and it looks good and is solidly built. I chose grey because it is less harsh than the strong brown and strong green colors. Be aware that it is very tall. I am 5ft 6in and can barely reach the top but you can tilt the top box somewhat for access. I'm wondering if this vertical garden would act as a mini greenhouse if you drape some kind of flexible clear plastic over it and clamp it to the top. The only downside of this unit are the side clips which fall off easily. Not a deal breaker, though. Perhaps that issue could be fixed by a creative handy person and would love suggestions from anyone who has resolved this problem. This garden beats having to stoop to ground level for short rooted herbs and vegetables. I plan on buying 3 more. ... show more

Wanted to try my hand at a garden this Spring but had a few issues: My yard isn't big enough to plant a garden and for some reason, we have an abundance of bunnies running around back there this year. This vertical garden was the solution! Super easy to put together and extremely sturdy - especially once you add in the soil and plants. So far so good. I've already harvested my lettuces and herbs. I use mine primarily for herbs. I had unsightly containers crowded around my raised garden. Now I have an aesthetically beautiful.upright herb garden. The ease of maintaining all the herbs now in an upright orderly manner makes my life so much easier and turned an eye soar into a thing of beauty. I bought one of these and ended up getting 4 more. They come in 2 sizes. Takes about 10 minutes to put together (and 5 minutes to take down for off season). Recommend using a drill to speed up process. I cut holes in the bottom for drainage. (Read the directions, you can choose 2 different locations to cut the holes). Also, when setting up, make sure the crossbars holes are facing down. I didn’t realize that until end of the season and rusty water came out. The directions don’t mention it either. The containers are thick and very durable. Just be careful storing the O-Rings and container support brackets so you don’t lose a piece off-season. Highly recommend. The fold up for more compact storage (have to unscrew a couple pieces). Third season and have no complaints. ... show more

THE BEST PRODUCT HERE IS AN REVIEW TWO YEARS LATER. This is one of the better products on Amazon. This planter and stand has held up to Florida rain and sun. I did paint it to be sure it continues to look better. It didn't need it after a year. I think this is worth the money. It has kept my herbs happy. It's not been painted. If anything shows wear , its the plastic pot. and the holders. It's still holding up through humidity. Brutal sun, constant watering, moving, soil, cold, and usual everyday weather. Easy assembly after I found the correct instructions on their website. The booklet that came in box was for a different product. Unit seems sturdy but the brackets that hold planters can tilt so be careful. Very tall plants seem to be hidden under planter above it. So far, so good!

I like how sturdy it is and vertical gardening is the way to go if you have a small space. I planted carrots, Swiss chard, broccoli and tomatoes - which all seem to work in this vertical planter. While my vegetables would prefer a deeper container, it is still deep enough to grow more than just basic herbs. Next year I’ll try some different veggies such as spinach or peppers. I would not recommend anything larger such as cucumbers or zucchini. They’ll need more space to grow and the planters just aren’t deep enough for their root systems. Otherwise it’s a solid product and I like that I can easily remove the individual planters. It’s a great product for small spaces (patios, balconies, etc.) and while it’s a little pricey, it’ll last for years. ... show more
