  • nice flexible kit adaptable for many uses - climbs fine - good rope
Color: Green Size: 10M(32ft)
Pretty decent rope, much more workable than some I’ve tried. I’m just getting into single rope technique climbing and was looking for something I could practice with - I kind of wish I’d gone with the medium length for more functionality, but this will get me around 15 feet up in an ideal situation. These carabiners should be relegated to your household hangers category - there’s no rating markings present and there’s several sharp-ish points throughout. Fine for hanging sunshades but don’t climb with them. They are screw-lock style and a good size & thickness fine for many uses. The metal eye inserts have a good fit and finish to my eye. The rope has a nice reflective sheath, but you can feel the sheath move slightly over the core when you run it through your pinched fingers. Not bad, just looser at a detectable level than my others which I re-checked just to confirm. My aggressively toothed foot ascender doesn’t appear to have done any damage but I had a different ascender that’d slipped before on my main rope but seemed great on some of my others - the ascender has the sort of knurled type teeth on it and once again it slipped - I expected it so minimized everything about the dynamics, but that did tear up this sheath across about half the rope, a fair bit more than it did to my other rope. Not terrible, it’s certainly fine to use but I was a little surprised. I’m still in my first year-ish of climbing though so I get surprised by lots of things. The little bag it comes with is handy and it comes with gloves I forgot to try them - they are kind of what you want but just really light duty versions made of fabric with grip dots. But these gloves would work fine for setting up some rigging lines now and then as needed. This has a nice level of flexibility to it there’s just minor stiffness so my alpine butterflies formed ok and dressed well. Rapelling with a ring worked really well. Whipping it to drop over limbs would make a clear wave pattern. If you hold out a length it will droop - some static ropes I have you can bend an S shape into them, hold out a segment and they’ll hold the S while angled stiffly upward. I much prefer this level of flex.

This is a good value for a rope - I would personally not consider any rope in this price range for anything extreme that involves life support functions, but I was perfectly comfortable hanging from it from my tree in controlled up and downs. I looked up some industry rated ropes from the supply house I got my main line from and this rope is literally 1/4 of the price and come with accessories and stitched eyes so use your own judgement for appropriate applications. I’m pleased with this rope set and would recommend it if you think it suits your needs. I really should have gone with the middle length option for more flexibility in actual tree climbing use but was just looking for something to work on technique with and test some of my different cords with this diameter without over-committing, so this was a great choice in that regard and it’s an easily manageable length for around the house and yard. ... show more

  • Solid rope. Can't really use it for actual climbing, but many of other awesome use cases.
Color: Orange Size: 30M(96ft)
This rope is solid and well-made—definitely designed with climbing in mind, but keep in mind it’s a static rope, so I wouldn’t recommend it for any technical or dynamic climbing. That said, it’s perfect for general rigging, hauling, or projects where safety isn't life-critical. I’m currently using it for a rope swing, and it’s holding up great with no signs of wear or fraying. The included gloves and bag feel more like gimmicks than functional gear, but they don’t detract from the rope’s overall quality. The pre-sewn loops look sturdy, but I prefer tying my own knots for peace of mind. The carabiners that came with it are a nice bonus—nothing fancy, but definitely usable. For the price, you get a durable, dependable rope that’s great for outdoor tasks, swings, or any static load-bearing setup. Just don’t confuse it for dynamic climbing rope. Overall, very pleased with the purchase. ... show more

  • Nice Rope with sewn eyes
Color: Purple Size: 30M(96ft)
I got the 30 meter version and there is plenty of very nice rope. The listing says it is 30 meters of 10 mm rope. I'm not going to quibble overly but I laid it out with my tape measure and with the carabiners on both ends, it came to just short of 30 meters. Maybe if I pulled a bit harder, I could get to 30 meters. Also, the diameter of the rope is 3/8 inch, about 9.5 mm. Maybe after it gets used and fluffed out a bit, it will be 10 mm or maybe I measured a bit overly zealously and squished the rope a bit. Whatever, it is good solid rope that is -about- 10 mm. Somebody was asking on Amazon, Why pay $$ for this when you can pay $ for that on Harbor Freight. My answer then, as now, look closely at the products. This one says "Climbing Rope for ... Tree Climbing" that one says "Not for use as a lifeline." Do you really want to risk your neck on something that says not to use it for that purpose? One of the pictures for the listing shows gloves. I did not expect gloves and I did not get any. (I would not expect random gloves to fit my big hands, anyway.) It comes with a nice nylon bag. When it comes from the factory, it is hanked up nice and tight. Getting the rope untangled initially is a pain. Getting back into the bag, such that it can be used again, easily is a challenge. It took me a while to figure out but I actually STORE the rope in the bag, not just pull the rope out the first time and throw the bag away. The sewn eyes on both ends of the rope are good and bad. They are good because they are nicely made, sturdy with thimbles to protect the rope. Sewn eyes are supposed to be more reliable than the spliced version and these have a shrink tubing outer layer to protect them. They are a bit of an annoyance because I commonly use my ropes with a pulley and with the eye, they don't fit through the pulley at all. The eyes also slow down the tying of knots but with a rope this long, most knots are in the middle anyway. It came with two carabiners that are made of steel and have screw closures but nothing stamped on them saying how they are rated. I'm not sure I'll trust them with my life so I'll use them for something else and use others that are rated for anything serious. My daughter looked at the rope and commented how pretty it was. The purple I got is a very nice color with the contrasting bands. I wanted to get a different color from my other ropes so I can tell my ground support which rope to pull on by color but why not have a nice color, while I am at it? She also commented on how this is a nice firm rope of sufficient thickness to do some good. The listing says this is polyester rope with a nylon core. I associate polyester with static ropes, meaning they don't stretch more than maybe 2%. It was news to me that nylon can be used as the core for a static rope. I am pleased with this rope. If I am so pleased, why not five stars? I guess because the eyelets don't fit in my pulleys and the bag is a little small. ... show more

  • Obviously high-quality rope
Color: Orange Size: 10M(32ft)
I didn't get this for climbing, but for general utility use on my 10 acres. For example, I need ropes for things from emergency rescue use to using my tractor to tow large fallen tree branches to burn piles. This rope claims a breaking strength of 5300 pounds, yet it is relatively soft and flexible and has trustworthy metal eyelets and locking carabiners at the ends. In sum, I've used cheap nylon rope for some of these things before, but this rope doesn't cost significantly more, and it is stronger, more flexible, easier to handle, and has easy attachment at the ends. The bag is useful too. I guess the thin, but grippy, gloves included might help in grasping the rope, but I doubt they'll be of much use for anything but climbing; I don't mind them being included, and they don't seem to be adding more than a buck or two to the cost. ... show more
