This rope is far better quality and much stronger than you’ll find at the box stores. It does appear to be suitable for descending/tree-work/fall protection...and perhaps climbing. - The listing claims lab certification, and it appears to be a quality rope. Somewhat rigid/stiff…no apparent defects…quality eye stitching and sheathing. - The carabiners are steel and appear to be strong. They are marked for CE rating…but have rough edges. You’ll want to file down the sharp edges before use. - I like that the eyelets have metal protectors for wear against carabiners. I’m not a climber, so I’ll defer to other for a preference in that regard. - The carry bag is thin and dainty, but it’s nice that it came with one. - The gloves are good for general use (e.g. automotive, house, gardening), but I can’t see these use in any capacity for climbing. I appreciate the extra pair of general use gloves though. Bottom Line: Quality ropes and carabiners. Good value for the current price. ... show more

Constructed well no fraying or wear at the eyelets and the shrink tape is still in good shape after 6 uses in 2 weeks of home repairs. I got this rope to serve as a dive line rather than a climbing rope. I love the brightness and the length is exactly what I needed for training. Orange is a good color for depth since it does not fade as fast as other colors the deeper you go. It came with two carabiners and some gloves which I thought were great extras. My older brother is an intermediate-advanced climber and I ordered this before asking him about climbing ropes lol. He said, generally speaking, it's best to stick with name brands (ie. Black Diamond etc.) for things you are depending on to keep you safe and alive. SO that means ropes, harnesses, and carabiners. There's tons of creative things people do with their recycled rope, so I will be looking into that so this doesn't go to waste. I'd advise others to read the other reviews and do your research. I really like how super strong this 12mm outdoor climbing rope is! I got the blue, which is easy to see, in a huge coil of 70m (about 76 yards/230'ft). It's heavy duty and super strong, and pliable enough to tie a knot. Each end is finished off with heat shrunk tubing and steel protectors, and 2 QSTLAB certified mountain hooks. The strength/length of this rope make it one of the most useful and versatile tools I own. The breaking strength is 4900 lbs!! I'll be using it to pull, drag, haul, tie down, hang up, corral...and that's at my house. It's going straight into my truck and will be used when camping as a laundry line, dog run, rain tarp support over our tent, climbing...and will come in handy to pull out an ATV that gets stuck when we go mudding. So, I don't do rock climbing or anything of the sort. But I am a home owner. Having a two story house I'm often stuck with having to get on top of it. This is rope has made it safer and easier to traverse the top of my house whether I'm looking at me solar panels or cleaning gutters and even patching holes to keep out bats. This rope held up. I created some anchor points on the roof for me to hook carabineers on and I'm good. This rope is thick, and tough. I was able to make a swiss seatbelt for some climbing jobs. I'm not a climber but I do intend to use the rope for tree work and general usage. So this is the first climbing rope I've had. That being said, it is some very serious looking rope, with metal holes on either end and locking sturdy metal carabiners. I like that it comes in it's own bag too, that is a great addition.
