This is my 5th Otter Box (3 for iPhones and 2 for iPad minis). For me there is no other case I would ever use on my Apple products. I also always use my Otter cases with a holster for added safety and protection and easy accessibility when I am hiking or biking. Yesterday I called my carrier and ordered a new iPhone. As soon as I hung up I came to Amazon to order this cover. The new iPhone arrived early this morning and it stayed unopened in its Apple box while I waited for the Otter Box to arrive. When the Otter Box got here I finally took the iPhone out of its box and directly into the Otter Box. Now I am ready to activate it. This procedure has been the same for every Otter Box I have ever owned. My electronics come out of the Apple box and straight into the Otter box. You should see the pristine condition of my iPhones when I trade them in! If you are considering an Otter Box for the first time let me tell you a quick story. About 2 years ago I was out hiking. My hike buddy and I stopped for lunch on a ledge overlooking a fantastic mountain view. I placed the iPhone (with a holster) next to me on the ledge and somehow accidentally knocked the iPhone off the ledge and down about 15 feet. My buddy was very upset about my iPhone. Me, I was cool as a cucumber because I KNEW my iPhone had survived. I found a way to climb down to the iPhone (no easy feat, let me tell you!) and retrieved it. When I went back up my buddy could not believe her eyes. Screen and iPhone working perfectly, not a scratch or dent anywhere. She said that had she not witnessed the fall my phone had taken she would have never believe it could survive without damage. That is what you get with an Otter Box, plain and simple. I bought this to replace a zagg phone case for my new iPhone 16. I had an otterbox on my previous phone for 5+ years. I worked on a hard concrete floor and dropped it many times w/out any damage. The phone even survived a high speed crash. W/new phone I opted for a sleeker cover. The first two weeks of using the zagg cover on my new phone my screen protector had cracked. Fantastic protection for drops, and the cell phone can be charged through the case. I paired this with a screen saver protective film and three caps for the camera lenses. The only point of weakness on this item is the cut-out for the camera control; there is a raised bevel along one of the longer sides as well as two of the shorter sides--but this done leave one long edge of the camera control exposed. I was aware of the camera control cut-out on the case before purchasing it, and the only other options I found seemed to obscure the camera control from relatively simple access. (I think this is just one of the risk : reward ratios everyone has to decide for themselves.) I feel comfortable using my cell with this case on because I know it will likely be safe even if it slips out of my hand. ... show more
