For the last 10 years now I have always gotten an otterbox case for every phone. Usually the same “commuter” style case. I can honestly say that for the last decade this manufacturer has helped to keep each phone in pristine condition. Whenever my phone has fallen when protected by an otterbox case there has been no damage. This time I decided to stray from the “commuter” series and go with this “defender” model for 2 reasons. The first being that I wanted to be able to see my phone while still having the peace of mind knowing it’s encased and secure. The clear back allows for this while still protecting my phone. Also, this particular “defender” case is not ridiculously bulky as previous models. The second reason I chose this model was because it’s a MagSafe case. For me this kills two birds with one stone! Not only is my phone secure and visible but also in a case that has some grip to it. Which is something the commuter case somewhat lacked. (Even though that is a five star case too). But I also love that the built in magnet allows me to use the MagSafe charger. I would recommend investing in a glass screen protector as one is not included with this case. And though the raised edges around screen and camera provide protection, it won’t hurt to be safe and get something to cover the screen. WARNING! I learned after receiving the case is that I have yet to find a camera lens protector that will fit. The cutout for the camera has raised edges to help protect, but do not allow enough space for a glass lens protector to stick on. I have already gone through 2 of them. They cannot adhere to the camera to protect against a nasty fall with this case. That is the only downside I’ve found so far. Gonna try a different lens protector and see what happens. Oh and the color options are pretty neat too! I chose the black frame to accent the natural titanium. Looks great and feels safe. If a phone costs $1000 or more, I think it’s best to protect it as much as possible. ... show more

This is my 3rd otterbox defender iphone case. I have occasionally dropped my phone on a garage cement floor and once on an uneven cobble stone road. The phone was fine. The screensaver did crack but the actual iPhone screen was untouched. New screen protector and the iPhone looked and worked like new. (note: not otterbox brand screen protector) I can't say this about most products that claim to protect something, but the Otterbox Defender really does work. I just removed the case from my iPhone X who's battery died. Still looked like new. ... show more

I have used Otterbox defenders since iPhone 3 and they've been incredibly durable, This particular model has a weakness, in that using the holster, and clipping and unclipping the phone wears out the tabs that keep it in place. I was honestly surprised by how not-bulky it feels. I’m used to otterbox cases being much heavier. The green color looks a bit different to me in person that it does online, but still cute. Easy to install and remove. I will say, I dropped it, and cracked my screen protector with this case, so it’s not indestructible of course. Otherwise, seems to be good quality and very durable. Not sure if it’s a good value for money yet, but I got it for prime day, so I have no complaints. ... show more
