    • Mine turned yellow after about 8 months :-(

Despite LOVING this case (slim, unobtrusive, slides in/out of purse+pockets, resists scratches, and protects against minor/gentle drops), and being a die-hard fan of OtterBox products, I wouldn’t recommend the clear case. It lasted longer than other brands I’ve seen friends use, but still turned yellowish from the oils in my hands after about 8 months on the sides. (NOT all over, and NOT due to UV exposure, like most clear plastics, however!). I tried all kinds of DIY tricks for removing the discoloration, with no luck. It’s not gross looking, but definitely obvious where my hands usually touch the case vs don’t. I’ll buy a colored OtterBox in this line next time, but I was bored with black and wanted to try their promise of non-yellowing this time with a more minimalist clear case: a bit disappointed. Still need to put more materials science into this product, or create a remover that actually does eliminate the oils that seeped into this specific plastic. (I tried the following: silver polishing cloth, baking soda, whitening toothpaste with abrasive and peroxide let sit for 10 minute and rubbed in with microfiber cloth, a good quality liquid metal+plastic polish that I rubbed in for several minutes with a 100% cotton rag, straight 3% hydrogen peroxide bath for 15 minutes, white kitchen sponge—scrubbed well, and a superfine grit sanding sponge (sorry, couldn’t read the grit any more). None of these made ANY visible improvement, and the sanding sponge put a very slightly dull look on the shiny plastic (nothing you’d notice if you weren’t experimenting, as I was). Note: I tried each method on small but different areas of the case to try to compare, except at the end of the abrasive methods I immersed the whole case in peroxide. I didn’t try fresh lemon juice and/or rubbing with lemon peel, chlorine bleach (seems drastic, not going to try it), leaving it in the sun for hours, or tougher grit sandpaper (I thought that might make the surface more porous and make the situation worsen faster in the future). Proud physics+engineering geek, and love experimenting and fixing things. :-) ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I’m pretty happy with this phone case. i have the clear one, it’s cute and sleek. I jut reordered it because I loved it so much. It protected my phone for 2 years of me dropping it on a variety of surfaces. There were so many times I dropped my phone thinking “This is it I smashed my screen”. I did go through 3 screen protectors and as you can see in the video I destroyed my phone case. But my phone is completely in tact and only has very minor scratches! The only downside is the case turns brown eventually on the sides which is kinda gross after seeing the new one. But it doesn’t bother me enough to actually care ... show more

This case has protected my phone well after at least a dozen drops in 4 months. While my glass screen already has a crack, the case is enduring. It does show scratches but no dents or cracks. Again, I have dropped in MULTIPLE times from at least 4 feet. Otterbox has always been my favorite case and this one doesn't disappoint me. I will update if needed after I have had it longer. Update - after nine months and numerous drops on all kinds of surfaces (I'm not good at keeping it secure), my phone is fine! I heartily recommend this product, especially if you are prone to dropping your phone. PS: I have glass on the front to protect the screen, which does not come with the case. ... show more
