My old Otter box case broke down after 9 years of use with two different phones that were the same size. That case simply slipped over my phone as the hard cover slipped over the soft inner cover. This Otter Box inner cover snaps into place for a more secure fit. The hard case is a bit thicker than the last one I had and seems like it can endure more abuse. I often drop my phone but Otter Box has me covered. The clip covers the face of the phone. It's made me think twice before picking my phone up in the car where I need to keep focus on the road, so I like to keep it on whenever I'm out and about. It's also added protection for when my phone slips out of my hands I'm going to feel better about having it on there than not. If you’re looking for sturdiness durability then this is definitely the phone case for you!!! I have had other otterbox’s in the past but not the defender series, and they have been ruined, and I do have a autistic daughter who tends to be a little rough on things and she uses my phone often and ruined my last OtterBox and like I mentioned it was not a defender! So I decided to get a defender series and so far so good!!!! Highly recommend! Also my fiancé Is a roofer and it has fallen off roofs of houses and completely protected the phone and nothing has happened to it except it has dialed 911 because if a phone, well an iPhone anyways, falls that hard and fast it automatically dialed 911. I have always been a fan of otter box and the defenders series is the only case I swear by, I was happy to get this case but unhappy that this model doesn’t have the plastic protected included with the case like it normally does. I will say that I haven’t upgraded my phone in years however I was expecting the phone case to be completed enclosed like they have in the past. Im upgrading from a 7plus to a 11 pro max so this could have been a change in design. So I’m rating a 3.5 since that’s not available I’ll rate 4 The screen is the most important part of the phone. If you purchase this you may want to buy a actual screen protector to place over the glass because this case leaves the glass open.
