If there is a word above Awesome, I would say it but there is none so I just stop at this “Above Awesome is all I could say!!!” I am loyal to Ottobox cases since Sep 2012. I remembered very clearly that when I purchased my Samsung note5 that just came out which I dearly valued it after I got my note2 stolen at work. I purchased the Otterbox Defender/Commuter (I forgot which one) case immediately at T-Mobile store for $59.99 bc they didn’t have many selections for the cases of that type of phone. I picked that case bc the store guy told me it’s the best case out of the other 3 brands they are carrying plus it has the lavender tone and white that made it look so beautiful, stylist and classic. I didn’t know anything about the brand but bc of the above reasons I bit my lips and purchased it but the thought about the cost was still eating me up. Then I went home and checked on Amazon but at that time they had very limited selection, no color that I liked plus the cost was like almost $50 so I thought over and over many times that the difference is only $10 but am I happy if I don’t have the right color for my phone bc I will have to see it everyday for the next few years at least. So I decided to keep the case and I made the utimately right decision. Not only the case was beautiful but it was also as strong as.... umm “The Rock”!!!! I have never abused my phone and the case that much in my life! Why? Bc my son at that time was only 4 and I let him play my phone a lot and everytime (you know kids already and what happen next) he held it in his tiny hands, he just dropped it bc the note5 was so big. I couldn’t blame him! He dropped it on hard floors all the times with different angles, sometimes it landed on the left corner, another time on its back, then on the front screen, etc... all styles of landing that you can imagine and sometimes with some weird angle drops that gave me chills and heart throbs! Anyhow, nothing happened to the phone whatsoever! The only thing was, the case that saved my phone for the past 6 years just, the case got cracked on the side and a couple corners were badly scratched. I felt so bad for it and decided to let it retire even though it still protected the phone so well. I could compare the case to the knight that protect his King all the way until he dies! I should have taken the picture of the case or keep it for memory! It was hard to let go of it bc i had it for exactly 6 yrs! At this point you know which case I trusted the mots! I replaced it with another case, the exact same one but they only have city blue for about less than $10!!! OMG!!!’ What a deal! Now I gave the phone to my mom and it still look so new after many years of abuse! I will upload the pix later so you can see. Now when I receive my expensive xS max iPhone from my family for Christmas, I was so worried bc I never owned such an expensive one in my life! My brother in law had one like me on Thanks Giving but he cracked the back already after 3 weeks of use with the Torras case on! I told him to buy the Otterbox bc it only cost $25, about $7 more than the Torras but he wouldn’t listen to me. I told him the heroic story of my old case but he said the case is too bulky and expensive!!! He liked the slim case and the belt clip! Look what he got! It was his present from his wife who is my sister and told me to keep secret for him bc he didn’t want to upset her. She later on found out anyways on her own! So when I got my phone as a surprised present, I hurriedly n immediately ordered the case that night! Now I got th beautiful aqua case for just around $25. The most important thing is the peace of mind that the case gives me! I had my first drop at school last week on the cement floor from 5’ + above and nothing happened to it! Thanks so much to the case and it’s inventor! I haven’t purchased the protection plan yet bc I have 60 days window. So it took me almost 7 years to write this review! I know my review is not going to make any difference bc you already had so many loyal customers with your reputation. Sorry Otterbox, I kept forgetting and now I must do it before it takes me another 7 years. I must share my story and thanks the case makers for making such a super reliable product! Updated on 2/11/19 - I need to make a couple corrections: I got my Note2 in 2014, not 2012! If someone discovered that will think I am a liar or exaggerating bc note2 didn’t come out in 2012! Therefore I only had the case for 4 years and it took me 5 yrs to write review not 7 yrs! But 4 yrs is still pretty long time. And last mistake was the Torras case I wrote but it wasn’t! My brother in law had Zizo brand for his xS max! SorryTorras for saying the wrong thing! I think that’s all i need to correct. Update on 7/12/2021 After almost 3 years, the case is still looking good, robust, and no stains. Some reviewers said it get stained easily. I have to disagree. It will be stained a little if you don’t take good care of it and when it is, you just have to take a few minutes of your free time to clean with alcohol. That’s all it takes. This case is low maintenance, for 2 and a half years, i only cleaned twice. I can’t take Otter Box enough for making such a high quality case yet affordable (around $28) to protect my brand new Xs max that cost me $1200. What a deal!!! And without this case, my phone would not survive till this day, it’d have broken 100 times already if not for this case. I’m FOREVER LOYAL to Otter Box because it’s not the first time I had this case for my expensive phones.

This case is just what I was looking for. It provides the drop protection that I need for my day-to-day use of the phone without adding too much weight or bulk. This is not your case if you are going to be dropping the phone in to mud puddles -- you would want a full coverage case for that. For the rest of us the Commuter case strikes a good balance. I found it very easy to install the iPhone XS Max into the case, which comes in 2 pieces. There is a soft rubber(ish) piece that the phone gets installed into first. This piece covers the whole back of your phone, with the exception of a circular cutout to show the Apple logo, and a cutout for the rear camera lens. This rubber piece also covers the sides, top, and bottom of the phone. There is a small cutout for the mute button on the left side and cutouts for the speakers at the bottom of the phone. The charging port, at the bottom, is protected by a thick and flexible flap. The sleep/wake button on the right side and the volume control buttons on the left side are covered by raised rubber "nubs" that do not interfere wtih the operation of these buttons at all. Once the phone is inserted in to the rubber sheath, that assembly is then inserted in to a hard pastic shell. The only "trick" to this is to pull open the flap protecting the charging port first, then inserting the assembly, bottom first, into the hard shell while pushing the rubber flap through the opening in the hard shell. If you purchase this case you will see what I mean. Actually it's all very straight forward and easy. It was also fairly easy to remove the phone from the case. Just peel the whole case away from the phone, starting at the top. The Commuter case does not have a built-in screen protector such as a full coverage case would provide. There is a raised lip around the edge of the case to provide protection for the screen. The case provides ample room for the installation of a flat glass screen protector and allows unrestricted access to the screen edge-to-edge. Being a bit paranoid, I always install a glass screen protector (before installing the case) on any of the phones I have owned. I can not say if one of the curved screen protectors that extend over the edge of the screen would work. One of the things I really like about this case is that the rear camera lens is inset further back in to the case than any other iPhone case I have used in the past. I feel this provides a better level of protection for this exposed lens. The case itself is nice and "grippy" around most of it's perimeter where my fingers would naturally hold the phone. I returned an Apple leather case because it was as slippery as ice in my hand -- not a secure feeling at all. All in all, I am very happy with this Commuter case. The build quality appears to be excellent and everything fits just the way it should. I think you would find this case worth a tryout.

I had this case in white for my previous phone (iPhone 6s Plus) until I accidentally put the phone through the washing machine for a few minutes. It protected my phone from many, many drops and falls over a period of a bit over 3 years. The case cracked in a couple of places, but the phone kept working, so the case did its job. Unfortunately, the lightening jack cover recently broke off, and I think that’s why the phone died after just a few minutes in the washer. When I got my new phone, I turned to amazon to get another otterbox. This one is fine. I wish it came in more colors. Black and navy blends in to too much and black also happens to be the color of my boyfriend’s phone case, which I think could get confusing. Other reviewers state that the Ballet Way (pink) gets dirty very easily. So I went with the Ocean Way case. Honestly, I think the color is unappealing - kind of a dirty gray green more than an aqua. Wish I could have had white again, but oh well. So far it’s protecting my phone and obviously that’s the first priority.
