I have used the Otterbox Commuter case to protect my iPhone 5s for several years, so I went back to the Otterbox options when I upgraded to an iPhone XR. If you make a dramatic upgrade jump between multiple generations like I did, the size of the phone on its own is an adjustment. Adding the Otterbox didn't bother me like it has some reviewers in regards to bulkiness. The whole thing is bulky, now it's cute and safe. I did have to buy a PopSocket for the first time just to be able to handle this size phone. Finding this case cheaper on Amazon vs. the Otterbox website was AMAZING. I haven't dropped it yet to test the true durability, but no scratches or discoloration on the case to report from the past few weeks. The phone still fits in the back pocket of jeans and even the front pocket of my work pants, but they have to be actual pockets, not the tiny pockets we get in womenswear. ... show more

    • Good investment, but no screen cover
I have used Otterbox phone protectors for years. When you pay hundreds for a phone, you want the best protection from drops and other hazards. I am accustomed to the older version that had a cover for the screen. This was the closest I came for my needs, so while I have protection for the back and sides, I felt the need to have something for the front. The styling of this case allows for some overlap so if dropped, the screen will not have contact with the floor. The iPhone X is meant to be dust and waterproof, so I am guessing this is the reason for not including a front screen. However, the inexpensive glass screen protector I purchased helps with diminishing fingerprints. I have a hand tremor, and needed the case primarily for drop protection.
