So first off your not supposed to use an extension cord when doing level 1 charging. It draws a continuous 12 amps. But this cord can handle it. It doesn't get warm, and seems sturdy. Until I get my level 2 charger installed I have to use the very slow level 1 charger my car came with. Used this extension cord while using Porter Cable Air Compressor Model C2002 (but would work for electrical chainsaw, leafblower, etc) and it allowed the necessary extension needed from source of electricity to my project. With guage (the thickness of the wire used inside the cord), gauge numbers start from 10 and go up to 20. The smaller the guage number, the thicker the wire used inside the cord. Thicker wire (lower guage) ensures better flow of electricity. 10 and 12-guage cords are ideal if you have heavy duty power tools. This Otimo extension cord has 12 guage. Like the 25 foot of extension as not so long that it becomes burdensome to handle. Would definitely recommend. ... show more

Definitely will never overheat due to amps being demanded of it, like a strong power tool. The bright red color can't be missed when using cutting type power tools. If I had to list one negative, which this really isn't one, it's pretty heavy. But that's to be expected as its not a wimpy thing. A bit of advice..... hang it in the biggest loops possible, and no tangles. This will reduce problems during use, especially in cold weather. A great price. Highly recommended. ... show more

Very heavy duty extension cord. Has a little memory, but I’m also using it outdoors and it’s very cold out right now so it hasn’t had a chance to warm up yet. Good value. Fits on a cord reel with an added washer it really works nice. See pics. There are two styles of reels, one you hold and one with a hand crank - both hold this cord fine, but the crank one isn’t as versatile. To use the cord you really have to take it all off the reel unless you wind it from the middle which I tried but it puts a nasty bend in the cord. The hand kind you don’t need to take it all off - can use the cord on the reel and just take off what you need. I prefer to have the prong end loose and the plug end on the real. ... show more

I struggled to lift and use this cord in my garden to support my electric hedge trimmer. At 76, I could still manage to drag it around, but it was a real struggle. It's weight made use of my electric hedge trimmer very difficult, and it didn't take long for me to end its life by accidentally cutting into it. I got this to extend my charging cable for the Prius Prime and it's been great without the plug heating up. Even though the manufacturer states to not use an extension cord when charging but this heavy duty one should does the job fine.

The jacket OD is rather small...more like the size one might expect for a nice 16 AWG cord. Which reduces bulk and makes it easy to handle, but doesn't seem like it would hold up very well to abrasion. I will be able to protect them in my particular use case, so easy handling was more important to me. Not as complaint as good SO cordage, but not at all bad.
