I was going on a twelve day Philmont hike and wanted to have a good-sized water reservoir. Besides the Osprey brand name, I really liked that this reservoir had a hard plastic backing to it. This allows you to more easily shove the filled reservoir into a fully loaded pack. I had 70L Osprey backpack completely filled with stuff for the trail and would stuff the full reservoir into the pack. It only leaked one time. Initially I assumed there was a hole in the bladder. But I took it out, filled it with water, then tried to make it leak by squeezing it. But nothing came out. My conclusion was that my backpack was laid flat (or slightly inverted) which make the water leak out of the top. After that, I made sure my backpack was either slightly or fully elevated. No more leaks after that. I also liked the reservoir had a slide-off "cap" on the top that was attached to the reservoir with a plastic "string." So you didn't have to ask, "where did the cap go?" That's usually me. Lol. Very good water flow and the ability to "turn off" the water flow at the spout. Came with magnet to attach the hose to the front of your pack. I abused this thing for 12 days on the trail it performed exactly as I had hoped. Recommend it highly for longer treks. ... show more

These are probably the best hydration bladder design I've come across. Just well thought out & nice features. Large pinch opening for filling, no leaking, convenient pocket to hold while filling which is so nice when your pumping from a stream, the solid backing plate makes loading into a tight pocket easier I have not seen this feature on another bladder, a drink tube quick release at the top of the bladder so you can leave the drink tube connected to your pack or armor to fill, nice magnetic drink tube clip for easy access while riding or hiking. ... show more

Update: I contacted Ospery and their customer service was fantastic. After submitting a picture of my leak along with the production code, they issued a replacement immediately. The offer a lifetime warrantee on this item. I am updating to 5 stars since mistakes can happen - but how the company manages them is what counts. Thank you Osprey. I purchased this for an elk hunt. I tested it once at home prior to the hunt and it seemed to work fine. The day of my hunt (30 days later), I filled with water and dried off the outside with a paper towel. I kept feeling "wet". I discovered a very slow leak out of one of the seams. As soon as I returned from my trip I discovered I was 5 days over the 30 day return policy. I purchased this to replace an Osprey reservoir that I purchased years several ago, that was brought to an early end when a cat poked a few holes in it. The newer design is even better than my old one. The flat panel keeps holds it’s shape for better fit and function in my pack. The open top makes filling and cleaning a breeze. The detachable tube also allows for easy cleaning and then can store inside the reservoir for safe keeping between uses. I absolutely recommend this product and plan on buying a few more for my kids ... show more
