  • My new favorite yard product
Size: 2 - 12 OZ Bottles Style: Mound Treatment
A couple of years ago, just *one* bite from a fireant sent me to urgent care with sudden and frightening respiratory and cardiac issues (not to mention the immediate swelling and intense itching on my ankle). Ended up getting a prednisone shot in the butt. 😡 Bought this product upon recommendation of a landscaper. Within 90 seconds of application, ants started swarming (had already applied Amdro, which usually works, but they must have snacked on it). I hope that they die...that their families die...that their friends die. Tips: - Don't apply if there is even a hint of a breeze; this is an extra-fine powder. Wear a respirator mask. - Does not have a perforated top (for sprinkling {unless I missed something}); do not cut open entire foil lid. - Ready yourself to smell one of the most putrid odors you've ever had the displeasure of being exposed to. I hope and expect to find a great many carcasses later today. ... show more

  • Great
Size: 2 - 12 OZ Bottles Style: Mound Treatment
As soon as I opened the bottle it smelled so bad. The smell is horrible but that’s ok. I placed it everywhere and as soon as I saw the ant piles I poured it in the hole quickly. I started to see some ants kind of getting weaker. After a few minutes I went to check and there was no more movement in the ant piles. I made sure when I took my dog out I wouldn’t let him walk by it. I picked him up and placed him where I didn’t put any ant powder because I didn’t want to risk his life. U never know if it’s not safe for him. But it is very affective. I saw a guy in Instagram say he highly recommend it and he was right. I’m happy. One bottle was enough for the front and back side of the house on all the ant piles we had. ... show more

  • Kills southern California biting red ants
Size: 2 - 12 OZ Bottles Style: Mound Treatment
I live in southern California (San Diego County), and we have biting red ants. They are not as bad as fire ants in TX and elsewhere in the southeast, but they will take over your yard and have a very painful bite and spread very quickly. I've tried a lot of different things to get rid of them, but short of hiring a professional exterminator, nothing was very effective. I wasn't sure if this would work, since these technically aren't fire ants, but figured I didn't have much to lose other than a few dollars. I'm happy to say that it exceeded my expectations. After springling just a little around the mound, literally within a few hours, the entire colony was completely wiped out. Not a single living ant anywhere within a five foot radius of the mound. I'm now moving around to other mounds and eradicating them one by one. ... show more

  • Ortho Orthene Fire Ant Killer: Because Your Yard Deserves to be a Fire Ant-Free Zone
Size: 2 - 12 OZ Bottles Style: Mound Treatment
Fire ants, huh? The little buggers that turn your backyard into a battlefield. You’re just trying to enjoy your Sunday BBQ, and suddenly, BAM, you’re fighting for your life against tiny red demons who seem to think your feet are their personal target practice. Well, guess what? Ortho Orthene Fire Ant Killer is here to save the day, and it’s not playing around. This stuff is like the fire extinguisher of the insect world, except it works faster and is much better at not causing fires. Let’s break this down: Ortho’s got a secret weapon, it starts working in 60 minutes. That’s right, in the time it takes for you to binge-watch one episode of The Walking Dead, this stuff is already in action, tearing through fire ant colonies like it’s a one-man wrecking crew. And not just the worker ants, oh no. It goes straight for the queen too, because if you want to stop the operation, you go straight to the top, right? Think of it as a tactical strike on the entire fire ant empire. And don’t worry about messing around with complicated instructions. Just sprinkle this 12 oz. of fire ant-fighting magic on the mound and sit back while the ants get their eviction notice. If you’ve got a serious fire ant issue, grab the 2-Pack, because you’re going to want backup. PROS: • Kills the queen: It’s like a game of Ants vs. Us, and guess who’s winning? You, with the queen gone and the rest of her minions scrambling for survival. • Starts working in 60 minutes: It’s like a turbocharged anti-ant missile. If ants had feelings, they’d be seriously bummed right about now. • Easy to use: Just sprinkle it, and BAM, instant karma for the ants. No complicated steps, just results. • Kills mounds: If you’ve got a yard full of fire ant mounds, this stuff is like a party crasher, coming in and taking down all the invitations before they can even spread. • Effective: It works like a charm. If only we could get it to work as quickly on other pests, like that guy who always parks too close to you at the grocery store. CONS: • You might need more than one application: If you’ve got a major infestation, you might need to go back for seconds. But hey, ants aren’t known for being smart. • Can be a little dusty: A small price to pay for watching those pesky ants disappear into oblivion. In short, if you’re tired of feeling like the fire ant king’s personal doormat, Ortho Orthene Fire Ant Killer is the hero you’ve been waiting for. It’s quick, effective, and gets straight to the point. You’ll be able to enjoy your yard without worrying about fiery critters popping up like uninvited guests. Consider it your personal fire ant bodyguard. Because who doesn’t want that kind of protection? ... show more

  • Smells like death! Hope it works!
Size: 12 OZ Style: Mound Treatment
I have only had this a week and could barely use it due to rain. BUT, I truly hope it works as awful as it smells! I cannot stress this enough! I had used it and put the lid (securely) on it quickly because it immediately made me gag-badly. I stored the container in the basement waiting for dry weather and the next day I spent half a day trying to find a dead critter and checking sewer pipes because my entire basement smelled like death! Lol. Nope, just the innocent container sitting right where I left it. So just a warning to have an airtight container of some sort to place it in or you will have a nasty smell going on. I will update my review if it takes care of the ants I have been trying to kill. Good luck ... show more

  • Best Fire Ant Killer Ever
Size: 2 - 12 OZ Bottles Style: Mound Treatment
This product arrived by the due date. I use this product on fire ant beds that usually appear after a heavy rain, and it works! The fire ant bed (and ants) disappear within 24-48 hours after use. I highly recommend this product.
