  • Not extra strength
Size: 18.75 Ounce (Pack of 1)
If you want extra strength, pick a different listing. If you look at the photo, it's a jar of normal strength relaxer. Since the listing says extra strength, I assumed that they just used the normal strength picture because the jars look the same and I ordered it anyway. I was disappointed when my order was delivered and it was indeed normal strength. With that said, I feel that the normal strength actually does work the best for me because it gives me the texlaxed result that I want without my scalp burning or my hair being damaged. I don't worry about taking too long to apply the normal strength because my hair is generally course and I needed extra strength when I did no-lye relaxers years ago. I will suggest though to not put leftover product back into the jar. Just try to put what you need for your application into a glass bowl and throw away any product left over in the bowl. I made the mistake of putting my unused portion back in the jar and when I opened the jar the very next day, the jar had a very strong chemical smell and it almost looked like the cream had a slight pink color to it. In my experience this product doesn't have a smell and it's very white. I still had enough cream for at least 3 touch-up applications that I had to throw away because I don't want to take the risk now. ... show more

  • Not sure it's really worth it
Size: 18.75 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I have no basis for comparison with a hair relaxer, but I'll tell you my experience with this one. First thing you should know is it's damaging to your hair. I chose ORS because I was already familiar with the brand and have used and liked some of their other products. The straightening power of this was....meh. OK. I had a perm that was starting to look worse for wear. I thought I'd try a relaxer to finish it off and be done with my perm. I still have a few resistant waves sticking around, but overall my hair is a lot easier to flat iron or blow dry now. I followed instructions explicitly. You start with dry hair and work the product all over in thin sections. You want to be careful to avoid rubbing it into your scalp. I put a layer of vaseline on my forehead, ears and neck as a precaution. So I didn't have any issues with burning. You comb it through so your hair is straight for the most part and time it for 10 minutes, rinse for 5 and follow up with the ORS neutralizing shampoo. It takes a couple applications of the shampoo to get everything out and nice and squeaky clean again. Knowing this was probably going to be damaging, especially since the perm had already changed the texture of my hair, I also purchased a hair bond repair kit that I used both before and after relaxing. The bond repair you can actually mix in with the relaxer, but since this relaxer just comes in a big multi-use tub, I wasn't sure how much to measure out. Still, my hair was pretty rough afterwards. I was a little upset about it to be honest. Thought I might have to cut the worst damage off. The only thing that really saved my hair and made me feel ok about it again was the fact that I use and am a VIP member with Monat, which is pretty high end and spendy as far as hair care goes. But I did some deep treatments with some of the products that I had in my stash and that helped a lot. So I don't know if a relaxer is really worth it. It's probably better to invest in some good heat treatment products and a bomb flat iron. I don't think it's a process I'd go through again. ... show more

  • This works for regular/fine hair
Size: 18.75 Ounce (Pack of 1)
This relaxer is the best value you can get. What's good about this is that it's a one step process. Just apply and leave on for about 10 minutes, I have regular/fine curly hair (I'm mixed race). More or less time depending on your hair type. This will not damage your hair as long as know what you're doing. The people who left 1 start reviews most likely did it wrong. Read the directions, do not leave the product on too long, do not apply it directly to your scalp. Apply about 1/4-1/2 inch away from scalp. After you rinse out the relaxer apply a neutralizing shampoo or conditioner. I use Linange Neutralizing Conditioner for 5 minutes. The whole process is quick and easy, leaves my hair very smooth and manageable, and most importantly, has not caused damage to my hair or scalp. ... show more

  • Love it
Size: 18.75 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I've been using this relaxer for about 3 to 4'ish years, after switching from their no-lye formula. I will say my hair is softer compared to the no lye (since i no longer have to deal with calcium build up no -lye relaxers are known for) and my hair comes out soft and perfectly straight to my liking. When i used no-lye kits I would have to buy atleast two boxes to make sure all my new growth was covered. (thick hair problems amiright?) Pro-tip to anyone switching fomr the no-lye formula to this lye version This relaxer is really (and I mean really) thick compared to the box no-lye kit. so I suggest from my own experience is to either go to a stylist and have it put in, or have a friend/family member to put it in for you. cause at first it can be a bit overwhelming and take a bit more time to put in vs no-lye box kits. ... show more

  • Great for Texlaxing!
Size: 18.75 Ounce (Pack of 1)
Make sure you have the appropriate hair type. Hair relaxers are designed for coarse Afro/Latino hair. This is not designed for silky wavy/curly hair. You could risk injuring yourself by burn, sores, and immediate hair loss! Also, never put a relaxer on a clean, freshly shampooed scalp. Do not scratch scalp before application. This causes scalp burn! Relaxers are best on hair that has not been washed in 7 days or more. Knowing this will prevent injury! Great for texlaxing. I apply it to my new growth only. I set a timer for 12-15 minuets which includes the application process and setting. Then I rinse it out completely followed by a neutralizing shampoo also from ORS. Consistent results every time. ... show more
