I was born bald and didn't grow any hair until I was about 2. It was a soft, fuzzy afro that everyone loved and I hated. As time went on it became the most unruly kinky, coarse hair a person can have. It can only be brushed if it's relaxed and straightened with a flat iron or when wet and doused with conditioner. I have edges that never grow and either break off or stick out like fuzzy, frizzy cotton. And when the rest of my hair gets too long it breaks off. So needless to say I have been having it relaxed for years. When I became an adult and had to pay my own bills going to the salon every 3 months cramped my style and my budget, big time. So I decided to do my own hair. I have tried almost every relaxer out there and the one that was my go to was the adult version of this. I considered it my never fail hair savior. However after seeing this was cheaper and guessing their couldn't be that much of a difference I decided to try it. I relaxed yesterday. Brushed it and let it dry naturally with no styling products and I am blown away by the difference. Not only is my hair straighter and smoother it was left much healthier. I didn't even know my hair could feel like this. I can brush or comb it when it's dry. For the first time ever it dried naturally and didn't turn into a poof ball. It laid flat in soft waves. My edges lay nice and flat along my hairline. I slept with my hair down and didn't wake up to a freak show hairdo. All I had to do was run my fingers through it. I can finally just get out of the shower and go. I no longer have to worry about what the weather is going to be like. I'm literally blown away. I thought that me doing it at home and using store bought relaxer was the reason my hair felt dry and coarse and broke off all over the place. I thought there was some sort of trick the salons used to make my hair feel smooth and healthy. I still think there is a trick, but now I have my own. The kid version. I will forever be using this and I pray they never change the ingredients. Trust me when I say get this version. It will leave your hair much healthier AND it's cheaper. It's a win win. I know time may alter how this fairs out. So I will update this as needed. Update: It's been a few days and usually by now I can tell if there's been any damage or lasting ill effects such as drying out or becoming brittle. I'm pretty shocked to say the least. My hair still feels as soft as the day I did it. Of course there's a little damage around my edges, but that's my fault because I've never used the protection gel. I'm lazy like that. However the rest of my head has no damage and is silky soft and so manageable. I'm so impressed with this product. I'm starting to think this is what my hairdresser uses. I'm going to stock up on this before the secret gets out and the price goes up. ;) ... show more

    • Not worth the long delivery time, price and smelly shampoo
Will never buy again. First, it took forever to arrive. Second, the shampoo for rinsing out the relaxer smelled awful and fumes stung my eyes even when there was no shampoo even near my eyes, just in my hair. As you know, you have to keep looking at the lather to see if it's still pink which means there's still relaxer in your hair. The fumes made it very difficult to see. I liked how it comes with gel to put around your hairline to protect your skin, and the protective gel for previously straightened strands. But the smelly stinging shampoo, no. I used Africa's Best brand before this one, which was half the price and I'll go back to that one. Incidentally, I'm white but with terrible hairline out of control curls. My advice is to never leave relaxer on for maximum time if you're white and have relatively fine, thin hair. Otherwise I recommend African American hair relaxers, especially since Ogilvie discontinued their straightener. ... show more

I use this product for myself and my daughters hair. I stopped for about a year from using this due to it not being available where I currently reside and my hair started to break and was just sad. After I realized that I can order it from amazon, I was thrilled. Started using it again and even after just 1 use my hair and my daughters hair felt and looked amazing.     • 4c previously natural - Hair very dry with this product
I just used this product about a week ago and its not really long enough yet to say for sure if my hair will break. I used it on my virgin hair and it does not seem to have weakened it however my hair is EXTREMELY dry. I have moisturized it with deep conditioner as well as leave in and it still feels really horrible. The reason i did not give less than 3 stars is that my hair started to feel very dry prior to using this product but I do think this made it much worse. ... show more

Great product! My daughter’s hair was a super tight curl before using this product. Relaxer is very gentle, but works amazingly well. Her hair feels soft and conditioned. We will use it again.
