We were paying $12 plus tip every 2 months at the salon just for a bang trim. Now, I was able to do it myself and looks beautiful! Just as good as salon’s quality. She also let me trim her long hair and came out looking beautiful. Then, I gave my husband layers. What?! He has medium length but long hair for a man. Gosh, this tool worked like a dream. For me, I haven’t had my hair cut in 2 years. Did this myself and then needed my hubby to help even out the ends. I have super long and curly hair that is fine so there’s A LOT of it. Highly recommend following the instructions to flat iron first. I did that and with the help of my husband my hair is so much happier now! It’s fast, easy to learn and will only get better with practice. Love this tool. Paired it with scissors from The Cut Factory here on Amazon. We love using both the little blue clip (for bangs and boy hair) and the white longer clip for length and volume.     • Amazingly simple.

I've been cutting my own hair for years. I got fed up with going to a salon just to have to come home and fix half of the cut anyway. My hair cascaded down my back for years, so I would just bring it forward and cut it that way. It would take me about 20-30minutes per trim. With the Creaclip, that was shaved down to nothing. Using the large clip, a trim took 5 minutes tops. When I decided to chop my hair off recently after having some fun with hairdye and wanting to start fresh, I used the small clip and gave myself an A-line bob. While a little more difficult (though probably my fault since I didn't trim my hair short first and basically chopped off 15inches all at once.. don't do that. Cut it a few inches longer than you want it to be first), it still went fairly easily. I was pretty shocked at how easy it was to give myself the exact cut I set out to do. What I love about this system, is that it costs the same thing that one cut/wash/blowdry/style/tip does at a cheap salon. The styles are really easy to do. Their youtube account is filled with instructive, easy to follow how-to videos for your favorite cuts. If you have a style you want that a video doesn't exist for, you can email them requesting it and they are more than happy to work on getting one filmed for their channel. The customer service is amazing. Really, the only reason I ordered from Amazon instead of directly from them was because I wanted to maintain my privacy and I am scared to order anything from anyone after Spacebags requiring my phone number and selling it off to other companies. The clips are really decently made. They serve their purpose, are easy to use and clean, and feel fairly sturdy. The level is a little tempermental. Before you clip it into your hair, line it up even. If you try to get it level while it is in your hair when the air bubble is way off on a far side, you will be sitting there waiting for it to even out for a really long time. Other than that, I really have trouble finding anything to complain about with this. The best way to cut your hair with this, is to straighten it first. If you have curly hair, cut it two inches longer than you need it. Wavy hair, an inch longer. Cut a little at a time if you are scared. You can always cut more once you get more comfortable with it. This is really wonderful for people who are comfortable cutting their own hair, parents with children who need quick trims, or even just trims between salon visits. I especially love using the small clip for keeping my bangs trimmed since those grow so much faster than everything else. ... show more

Used this to cut my toddlers bangs. It works well. I plan on using it for her hair as she gets older. It’s easy to use. Only thing was the level it has attached didn’t work for me. When I used it my daughters bangs came out crooked, it was an easy fix, but I won’t be depending on that.

EDIT: March 2025: I'm changing to 5 stars because I've gotten more comfortable using this product. It's getting warmer where I live and I had grown out ends that needed trimming, so I was more brave and cut more hair off. I cut subtle layers around my face and trimmed up my curtain bangs. Yes, it's awkward getting your hair in the clip and doing it upside down, but start with small lengths to cut and go from there. This was the best looking cut I've given myself yet, and I'm really glad I have this product. I now have a cute hair cut right above my shoulders and I have nailed trimming my curtain bangs too. Original review: July 2024: After getting traumatized by two different hair stylists giving me horrible, and I mean horrible hair cuts, I was just done trusting people with my hair....I saw this tool and kept my eye on it for a while....then after the second bad hair cut that ended up with my bangs in a complete fiasco, I finally broke down and got this set. I haven't gotten very brave aside from flipping my hair over and doing long layers. I like how well it worked with my hair framing my face. I need to experiment on my bangs a little more and thin them out, so that will be my next to-do. Either way, I think this is worth the set if you can have someone at home to cut it for you, or if not, flip your hair over and do layers. I've only taken 1 inch off the 2 times I've used this so far, so my cut is extremely subtle, which is perfectly fine with me. Better than the 6 inches that one "stylist" hacked off my hair and the 4 inches another "stylist" hacked off when I asked for curtain bangs...Never again!!! So glad I have this set! ... show more

I am on the fence about this product. I feel like two things are now clear. This works best on very long hair and people who want zero layers or huge tall layers. I have fine, thick, soft dark blonde hair. It was between my shoulder blades in length. I would call that long but for this system it’s not long enough. couldn’t get the wide clip to stay in. We had to use the blue clip. Every time I pulled the clip through my hair the back fell out. That means going shorter than I wanted which meant cutting off close to 8” for the shortest layers. By flipping completely upside down to the point where I couldn’t see and my husband had to do the clip we reduced this to about a 6” difference. I told myself I was being chicken and all the many many videos I watched ended up with great hair. So I cut it. Mistake. When I flipped up I had about a 4” layer on top in the back and the face framing pieces were oddly long. The longest length looks sad and thin. My hair grows pretty fast so in a few months it will be fixable. I fixed what I could in the front to remove the obscene choppiness. It doesn’t look awful. Hubby said it makes me look younger and I’m thankful for his rose colored glasses. I do feel that there is a way to use this for less extreme layers if you have a helper. You could use the wide clip to cut it even in the back. Then section it off while still upright and pull the blue clip away from the head vertically to whatever angle you prefer. This is what we’ll try next time. Overall I think these clips can work but videos or instruction for people who don’t want such extreme cuts, but also don’t want a simple straight cut, are few or nonexistent. I think the creators are missing a market here without that instructional info. ... show more

I've been cutting my own hair for DECADES. I have thin hair, so the white clip could have been tighter for people like me... that said, maybe a thin sheet of tissue paper could have helped the hold... BUT, what used to take me 20-30 minutes... and a few days of tweaking over the following week was reduced to 5 minutes. I keep my hair from 1-2" below shoulder-length to shoulder length. I placed the white clip by myself, so that took a few minutes to adjust, but after that, easy to cut. I used the blue clip on the side and aligned the back part with the bottom of the back cut. Watched only 2-3 videos. I would not use this for a shag-type cut. My hair isn't long enough (and is so thin it never will be) for the cut the models use, so I can't comment on that. Initial cost is more than I've spent on haircuts in the last 20 years, but it will improve the accuracy of my home cuts, so worthwhile, imo. I didn't do the 45 degree cutting for layers, just cut straight across the bottom. Hope that helps. ... show more

    • Did Not Make the Cut for the Self-Cut Long, Layered, Forward Graduation

Because I AM environmental and health conscious and sensitive to chemical smells and there are no green-friendly salons in my area, as well as transportation issues, and for cost purposes i have been cutting my own hair for 7+ years now. When i saw this tool advertised it showed the model flipping her hair forward so she could cut her own hair with it. This is the entire reason i bought the product-i was excited about the prospect of being even more self-sufficient and no longer having to wait around for whenever my busy housemate might be around and available to do a quick blunt trim of the back base line of my of my hair so i can continue with my own self-cutting standard- Long-Layered Forward Graduation cut. I was also hopeful that the clips might make the whole precision edge layering easier and quicker. This was not the case at all! My hair is so fine and thin, that the large general clip was of no use at all- too wide and my hair just slipped out of the grip or would dangle unequally from side to side like a see-saw, or strands would fall out. So i moved on to the small clip that i presumed was meant for bangs and/or children's hair. This clip fit, but was super hard to get any kind of equal line in place, by myself, due to the long length of my hair in back, and flipping the hair forward just caused the clip to bunch up the bottom line of my hair unequally and strands kept slipping out (so could not do a straight blunt line cut in back). I was also initially excited about the idea of the level for cutting precision, but the bubble cannot be kept in place with self-cut of long hair in back, or when flipping it forward, and it cannot be seen well- even with glasses on and under bright lights. Also, for a self-cut the clips did not allow me to craft the correct angles required for slowly graduated layers that frame my face that a person with very fine, thin, straight hair requires a precision cut for- as there is not enough hair to hide any gaps or errors. After quite some time of trying, unsuccessfully, i went back to my old-school way of my manual hands-on cut. I can't say whether or not this product would be good for those cutting another person's hair, or those with different hair type, or shorter style than mine, or kids cuts at home, but for solo me, and my hair and particular cut this product did not make the cut.
