It came exactly as described, what I had in mind was coarse vermiculite. So I used this instead as a soil amendment around peppers , squash and tomatoes instead and it seemed to work great, it really conditioned the soil nicely and broke up the clumps of dirt around the roots. So in the end this also seems to have been a tremendous value. Only time will tell. My second attempts at this was the coarse grade of vermiculite same application, basically I cultivated the product into the base of the garden plants. The idea here is to amend the soil slightly so as to reduce the need to water as much.

Such fine grade vermiculite works beautifully in homemade seed starting mix. It is also perfect for covering the tops of the seed trays or cells so fungus gnats can’t get into the soil to lay their eggs. Product well worth the price.
