  • Great as a Webcam!!
Camera works great as a webcam. Just a little quirky when hooking to a switcher for broadcasting. Some outdoor situations are dark.

  • Affordable video camera - great for web content!
The HDR-AC3 camera by ORDRO offers a boat-load of value for the price, and the quality is on-par with cameras that are quite a bit more expensive. Overall, I have been happy with this camera and I have been able to shoot some really nice video. However, the camera is also not without its faults. First the good: Great price point for the specs, shoots video native in mp4 format (perfect starting point for publishing videos to the web). Tons of accessories: lens and lens case, lens hood, external mic, mini camera bag, a sort of stability handle, extra battery, remote control, and even a USB thumb drive card reader! This camera also includes a well written manual with lots of descriptive pictures. The bad: 1) Poor low-light performance - this issue is common with consumer cameras and really is not a big deal in this era of affordable portable LED video lights. If you intend to get the most out of this camera and you plan to do some shooting indoors, just do yourself a favor and buy a light kit - there are lots of affordable options and it will resolve any light issues with this camera. 2) Blown detail in sunlight and/or in areas of very bright light (depending on settings) - For example, natural light on a summer day seemed to cause issues for the camera picking up detail. 3) SD Card slot design - the SD card can't be accessed if you have a standard tripod quick-release style mount, installed on the camera. Very poor location choice for the SD card slot - I just don't get it. Given the above pros/cons I would still recommend this camera - I think it is a great first camera for beginner film enthusiasts. Despite its limitations it is a capable camera - and with all the included add-ons I think an aspiring film maker would be very well served by the HDR-AC3. 4-stars! ... show more

  • Don't waste your money.
TLDR: Just don't waste your money. On the surface this seems like an amazing deal. However, as with most things in life, if it seems too good to be true... [Normally I'd post photos, but I really don't want to do anything that would accidentally encourage someone to get suckered into buying this.] I want to say that I was drawn in by the sheer amount of perceived value here. The fit and finish that seemed apparent in the photos along with all of the "extras" were very appealing before I clicked that button to have it sent to me. Upon opening the box I was, again, impressed by the sheer number of things that were actually included for the price of the camera. I was so excited to actually start using it. ...and that's when the wheels fell off. I really don't know where to begin as I've already wasted so much time messing around with this camera (which I know, as Vine reviewers, is what we are supposed to do, but still...). The camera looks great on the surface, but: - The camera is incapable of focusing on anything, there is no manual focus, there is no auto focus, there's no focus period. Detail can't be seen even at two feet away. - Zoom... the zoom in/out function does NOT work in 1080P 60FPS mode. - Trying to record in 1080P 30FPS (which you can use the zoom function in) nets you horrible video quality. My Google Pixel 2 produces better video quality than this thing does. - Recording at 4K 30FPS produces a file that my PC doesn't recognize as an actual video file. I'm not just talking about random Windows Media Player or VLC either. I'm a content creator on YouTube (i.e. I deal with video content all the time) and even Adobe Premier Pro doesn't recognize it as a video file. I've never seen with this before with an MP4. Switching to the 1080P 60FPS format produced a usable file. - The menuing system for configuring it is a joke and the buttons for navigating the menus only work for some functions, they may work for others, but there's no visual cue to indicate it. It's a nightmare to navigate. - Attaching the "Super Macro" (as it is labeled) lens, and then removing it locked the camera into a super close blurred mode where it would not work w/o that lens attached. - The built in mic is T-E-R-R-I-B-L-E. - The accessory "boom" mic is slightly better than the built in one, but also produces shamefully poor quality sound. The video quality goes up at greater distances (6 feet or more), but with no focus and limited zoom based on your resolution, it makes it nearly impossible to use. Imagine trying to video Christmas morning with all these limitations. You can have 1080P 60FPS, but you can't zoom in. Don't get too close though because there's no focus on the camera so if you try to get a close up of someone opening a present, it won't work... There are just so many problems with this camera. I'm hoping by this point you get where I'm coming from with giving this a one star rating. It's just garbage. There aren't words for how unhappy I am with this thing. ... show more

  • Not bad but not great either
Definitely a cheap camera. Easy to use but the quality is pretty bad overall.

  • A lot to learn
This video camera is great, it comes with a ton of manuals and accessories like an SD card (32gb) and an all-in-one USB hard drive with SD card converter. It comes with 2 fully charged batteries, and a plug to recharge them. I love these additions as they make the camera basically ready to use out of the box. The only cons are this is a lot to learn and not very beginner friendly IMO. It also comes with a case that ONLY fits the basic video camera, wont safely hold the camera with added lens or the mic, so that's a bit disappointing. ... show more

  • Wouldn't say 4k
Overall this camera works very well with all of its attachments that it comes with. Including changeable lenses,a memory card, a microphone, carrying bag. Also comes with a holding stick. All the functionality is of your basic camera and is easy to use. My only problem is that I can't say that it is 4k. It more reminds me of a picture quality of a camera from 10 to 15 years ago. Dim lighting looks like an old TV. ... show more
