This is an okay cooler, but the description is inadequate. Those cute whale tail latches are made of soft, stretchy rubber! I thought they were plastic like the rest of the cooler. The problem with rubber is that is will break down long before the cooler does, and I will be left with no way to close this thing. Furthermore, I am an older woman and my hands are not very strong these days. You have to pull hard on this “tails” to stretch them, to latch and unlatch the cooler top, and it’s difficult for me. this is the best cooler for keeping block ice for days (3 minimum ) the gasket is airtight. meaning a vacuum is created if you change elevation. keep some sort of pry bar to open when you get to your campsite
