Long ago we got one of these peelers with an orange from the hotel desk when we checked in, which is how we discovered this peeler. It had since been lost during one of our several moves. These make peeling an orange or grapefruit so easy. Depending on the maturity of the fruit, you may be left with the white pith to peel off after separating the sections, but the peeling, the part that can be hard on the fingertips or arthritic hands, is easily done with these ingenious tools. I am so glad someone offers them on amazon.

Usually when I get a hankering for naval oranges I'll just go through bags of them every week. Before these babies I would just tear into the skin with my finger nails and rip the rind off like a caveman. These peelers really help save my finger nails during these flights of fancy. If I had one complain it would be that the crevice of the slicer part is super narrow and it's hard to clean it properly with a standard sponge. Otherwise, highly recommended.

Peeling an orange is not always easy. In fact, "easy peel" in the description at the produce stand is often misleading. I bought this orange peeler tool because it was tearing up my Cara Cara Oranges trying to use my thumbnail and brute force. The double-ended design of this tool is why it is invaluable. Start with the blunt end that has a surprisingly sharp cutting wedge to score the skin of the orange. After doing the five to six times, axis to axis, you can easily prepare your orange for step two. Flip the tool over and use the thin, curved blade end to slide the tool between the skin and the flesh of an orange. The shape allows the peeler to slide perfectly between the pith (that's the white bitter part) and the sweet reward you are after. With a little skill and practice you can remove the entire orange peel in one piece and open it up to look like a flower. Admire your work of art as you enjoy your perfectly peeled orange. The orange peeler is easy to clean. Simply hit it with some soapy water and it's ready for next time. And if you are like me and are saying, "but I only need one orange peeler, not two..." Hold on a second. Keep one in the kitchen for helping with breakfast or that healthy snack while watching television in the evening. Take the other one to work, keep it in your car, toss it in your hiking pack, etc. so you no longer have an excuse to not eat a healthy, delicious orange.
