Description

From warm modern cleans, through to vintage grind and all the way up to full-on distorted mayhem, the Crush Bass 50 combines the essentials of a practice rig with tone and features normally reserved for the pros. The Crush Bass 50 draws inspiration from Orange’s flagship OB1 and 4 Stroke amplifiers, bringing some of the defining elements of each into a compact combo. Like the rest of the Crush Bass range, this 50 Watt model delivers bold and punchy lows courtesy of its analogue circuitry and ported cabinetry. The extremely flexible active EQ section includes a sweepable parametric mid band, allowing players to shape their signature sound without limitations. For even more versatility, the interactive Gain and Blend controls are primed for creating enormous ‘bi-amped’-style tones with ease, adding extra harmonics and variable levels of grit to the core bass tone. They can also be switched in remotely using the optional footswitch. Other handy features include a buffered effects loop, integrated tuner, aux. input and a headphone output with Cabsim circuitry.

This orange bass amp is definitely a good amp. Especially with the gain and blend, if you have the right eq dialed it definitely gets pretty loud without the volume being up loud. It’s punchy and not muddy. I would definitely recommend and with me being someone having had the fender rumble 25 this amp blows it out of the water. Not only by quality but by sound. For its size it’s not as heavy like other amps its size. It’s definitely a great amp that sounds amazing and you won’t be disappointed. I’m a beginner on the bass after playing the guitar for a few years now. Have a new bass to learn on and this new bass amp does the job for practicing at home. That’s what I’ve used it for so far and all I likely will use it for. Can go nice and loud, volume can go all the way up and play deep notes without degrading or distorting quality. Sure, I wish it could go even louder but probably want a 200watt mega amp too! I usually practice at 50% volume just fine and turn it up when I want a bit more power to the sound. Notes are clear. No static or buzz at all for me. I like that it has a little built in LED tuner right on this unit. You can use it to tune your strings to their correct tightness. Or as a beginner l, you can use it to verify the note you are playing on the fretboard which is really helpful for me. I know a little portable one also works probably, but this was a nice little extra to find. ... show more

Sweet little practice combo from Orange. Sturdy, well-built and well-appointed. EQ with midrange sweep lets you dial in all the tones you could want for its primary purpose. Plenty loud for the bedroom. Don't expect to rock out with this amp, and certainly not in a full band setting. And don't expect subsonic, chest-pounding thump either, because that's not what this amp is for. That said, the 12" speaker will push out some low-end chunk with authority, in context. The gain/blend feature is fantastic, and imo is what really gets this amp into awesome territory. Don't let fizzy youtube reviews fool you. It brings the fuzz. Sounds great, super fun, super diverse. Tuner is nice but is the one thing that feels a little cheap. Aux input is ok. Don't see myself using it much but it's there. If you know Orange, and you want a solid practice combo with a wide palette of tones and some grit, and don't need a lot of bells and whistles, give it a shot. Jan 2022 update: My needs changed and I have found the AUX input/headphone jack essential! Needing to learn a bunch of classic rock songs quickly, and in a living situation where I gotta stay pretty quiet, I've been running spotify on a laptop into the AUX input, and headphones from the jack on the amp, which cuts the speaker. I can hear myself playing along perfectly, the streaming audio quality is serviceable, and I can balance the sound using my laptop's and my guitar's volume controls. Amp volume knob controls what comes out of the headphones. I didn't anticipate needing this, but the Orange Crush met the challenge (and has since become my best friend). Very well made portable amp. Sounds great,has that Orange tone even though it is a solid state amp. Buy a footswitch so you can use the "biamp" function. It works as a "dirty" channel with the gain and blend knobs. The parametric mid controls shine and the built in tuner seems to work well. The headphone output has cabsim so headphones sound great. As a practice amp this is great. You arent going to play any arenas with this amp and it lacks a balanced output. You can use the headphone jack with cabsim to record. Came with slick Orange stickers with heiroglyph decals and Orange logo decals. These are popular and I had to search to find a supplier that had some in stock. I bought the 25, a bitchin' little amp and liked it so much a month later I pulled the trigger on the 50. It's everything I like about the 25 only louder. This will replace a Crate 40 watt amp which is half again the size of this one and much heavier but man, what a difference it makes having a piece of quality equipment. Not to say Crate sucks or anything but this amp kicks it up a notch or two. If space is an issue, well, as you can see in the pic, it doesn't take up much room at all. If you're looking for something in the 50 watt range, this is your next amp. Unpacking it was a bit like one of those Russian dolls. There was a big Amazon box. Inside that was the Orange shipping box. Inside of that was the product box with the amp inside. Well packaged. The Seymour Duncans in The Cat Bass (the Cat always lands on her feet) really packs some punch with this amp. Dialed up some gnarly fuzz and ripped out the opening to "25 Or 6 to 4". Of course the Charvel just sounds sweet on anything. ... show more
