It’s incredible how much power is packed into this reasonably sized lightweight amp. I was only looking for a small practice amp where I could learn the bass at home without disturbing the neighbors. I barely need to turn up the volume knob to use this, there are surprisingly a number of options for tone shaping, and the headphone along with the aux inputs are welcome additions. As others have mentioned, the overdrive might not be to everyone’s taste, but the vintage knob sounds fantastic. For the convenience and how shockingly light this thing it was exactly what I was looking for.

Small size and lite-weight but power packed. I am impressed with this little Bass Amplifier by Fender - the Rumble 40 V3 is surprisingly well put together. Don't let the small size of this Amp fool you... hook it up, turn it on and crank it up. The 10" speaker packs a punch and provides plenty of volume for small rooms no problem. The XLS Out is the real prize though... with the ability to directly connect this Amp to my mixer, I can play any gig with this little Amp. Delivery was delayed for a day but I have no idea why. But it came the following day and the box was in good shape. It came in a standard cardboard box with typical styrofoam corner pieces to protect it from side impact. Unpacking was a simple matter of opening the top flaps of the box, removing the styrofoam corners and lifting it straight out of the box. It came with a rather short electric cord but it is a D type connector and I have many of them laying about so getting a longer one for it will be no problem. The knobs feel good not loose or cheap feeling. The levels were a bit harder to appreciate at least to my ear... its difficult to hear minor changes in knob settings when turning them. The best feature is the classic vibe button and the the separate Master knob. Nothing surprising. Just good, logical, placement and orientation - it made it easy to figure things out and adjust the volume and tone to my liking. Back to the speaker - the 10" speaker pushes a lot of air for such a small size which was a pleasant surprise. Bottom line - for a buck ninety nine the Fender Rumble 40 is a solid deal and makes a great practice / small room Bass amp by itself and with the added ability to connect it directly to your board means you can play it anywhere. Small size yep... I'm digging it. Power packed! If I could make one suggestion it would be to make the box just a touch larger and include the air holes to help it move even more air but that's just the old school coming out! lol! :-) Keep Rocking Good People! Keep Rocking! Update 07/01/2020 - Purchased this in 2018 now all these months later and numerous shows and practices and getting lugged around and thrown in the van and etc etc... This little gem of a Bass amp has truly stood up to the test of "actual use" - not just sitting in a room somewhere but essentially getting tromped on and moved around rather regularly. Of course Corona put a damper on things for about the last 4 months or so but prior to the end of the world, we played a huge gig for St. Patricks and the Rumble 40 stood up nicely. The thing that stangs out the most is the XLS output jack in the back that allowed our sound guy to plug it into the giant sub cub speaker stand and basically fill the room with atomic level boom boom. I just got this today. I was debating between the 40 W and the 100 W but I decided on the 40w. More than loud enough for my basement. Fender did not disappoint. Excellent sound for my bass and I would recommend this product. It is also super lightweight.

This is an excelleThanks! amp. I bought it for my husband for his birthday and he loves it. Lightweight but mighty in performance and options. He is happy, so I am too. He uses it several times a week and easily carries it with one hand- unlike his old one, that required a cart to haul and was hard for his bad back to take in and out of the van to gigs. I came here after seeing Josh from Bassbuzz review this amp - it did not disappoint. At 1/4 volume, you'll feel it in your guts. At half you'll hear lights rattling in their fixtures. A little more and china starts falling off the shelves. I'm in an apartment so your mileage may vary, but put it this way: this thing *delivers* the low end. Tone controls are smooth and deliver a great range of sound. Another reviewer noted that the differences in tone were subtle, and I'll second that - give knobs at least a 1/4 turn if you want to hear a response. Tone knobs have a detent in the middle so you can easily find noon - that's a great feature. The three preset buttons are neat, but I don't have tons to say about them. I prefer to dial in my own sound, but treating them like easy demo buttons gives you a good idea of what this amp can do (i.e. play a few licks on light, then contour, then vintage and get a sense of this thing's range). I've played quite a few fender amps (the dreaded Hot Rod comes to mind) and I'm happy to say the overdrive on this amp was surprisingly good - actual crunch and presence, much better than expected. All in all: forget the usual caveat of "great for the price" - this thing is just plain great!

The Rumble 40 pops up as one of the best practice amps for the money. It's light-weight, and has the classic Fender look. The over-sized cabinet helps with the amount of bass you can hear. It's plenty loud if you're a just jamming at home.

I am generally not a fan of Fender Bass amps but that view is mostly formed from big gigging rigs where the power for buck dynamic is lacking. This is a small bass amp for my studio and I could not be happier. It has a great tone and the direct output is very useful and the direct out is obviously not exactly like the sound coming out of the speaker but it is close enough that what you hear is what you print and that is important. For playing at low to moderate volumes with a drummer it is fine. I would not use it a large venue but would be very comfortable with it for a smaller intimate gig.

Great clairity! Tonal options are good. What makes this amp great is that you can actually turn it up to 5 ish in your little music area and it's loud and clear but not thunderous. I have a lot of bass gear and have played all sorts of rigs over the years and this amp sounds great. I play 62 jazz reissue, squire p bass, stingray and they all sound great. It's loud enough for a modest drummer and a fender 2x12 guitar combo. Quite enough to play with an acoustic set up. Can't stress how great it is for home jamming. Like perfect loud bass tone without rattling the stuff off the shelves. It gets loud too don't get me wrong. I played one of these at a small jam in a garage (with the door open) and loved it. I had an older rumble 100 with 1x15 set up. I sold it. It was big and heavy but could keep up with a live metal band. I upgraded to a larger rig and needed a small jam/ home practice amp. This is great. Tried to buy used first but couldn't find any. That's a sign that people buy this and never get rid of it because it's awesome.
