This amp is incredible. I am a big fan of it. I play live shows with an Orange bass amp and use this Fender 25 bass amp at home and for home recordings. I have to have it on the lowest possible volume, it is so powerful, to not disturb neighbors. You could definitely use it for small venues and cafes. Sound, carry-weight, appearance, user options, everything is great on this Fender 25 bass amp! It is about half an arm deep and up to the knees tall. It's the best for price, sound, and size! I have had my first one for several years and it is still perfect. I bought another one for another location. I wanted to try a new product, but after sampling many other brands, none were as good for this price/size category of bass amp.

Small size and lite-weight but power packed. I am impressed with this little Bass Amplifier by Fender - the Rumble 40 V3 is surprisingly well put together. Don't let the small size of this Amp fool you... hook it up, turn it on and crank it up. The 10" speaker packs a punch and provides plenty of volume for small rooms no problem. The XLS Out is the real prize though... with the ability to directly connect this Amp to my mixer, I can play any gig with this little Amp. Delivery was delayed for a day but I have no idea why. But it came the following day and the box was in good shape. It came in a standard cardboard box with typical styrofoam corner pieces to protect it from side impact. Unpacking was a simple matter of opening the top flaps of the box, removing the styrofoam corners and lifting it straight out of the box. It came with a rather short electric cord but it is a D type connector and I have many of them laying about so getting a longer one for it will be no problem. The knobs feel good not loose or cheap feeling. The levels were a bit harder to appreciate at least to my ear... its difficult to hear minor changes in knob settings when turning them. The best feature is the classic vibe button and the the separate Master knob. Nothing surprising. Just good, logical, placement and orientation - it made it easy to figure things out and adjust the volume and tone to my liking. Back to the speaker - the 10" speaker pushes a lot of air for such a small size which was a pleasant surprise. Bottom line - for a buck ninety nine the Fender Rumble 40 is a solid deal and makes a great practice / small room Bass amp by itself and with the added ability to connect it directly to your board means you can play it anywhere. Small size yep... I'm digging it. Power packed! If I could make one suggestion it would be to make the box just a touch larger and include the air holes to help it move even more air but that's just the old school coming out! lol! :-) Keep Rocking Good People! Keep Rocking! Update 07/01/2020 - Purchased this in 2018 now all these months later and numerous shows and practices and getting lugged around and thrown in the van and etc etc... This little gem of a Bass amp has truly stood up to the test of "actual use" - not just sitting in a room somewhere but essentially getting tromped on and moved around rather regularly. Of course Corona put a damper on things for about the last 4 months or so but prior to the end of the world, we played a huge gig for St. Patricks and the Rumble 40 stood up nicely. The thing that stangs out the most is the XLS output jack in the back that allowed our sound guy to plug it into the giant sub cub speaker stand and basically fill the room with atomic level boom boom. I bought this for an electronic drum pad to use as practice and small gigs when a full acoustic set would be too much. It was very loud and surprisingly sounded great since it was made for a bass guitar and not a drum set. Fender quality is phenomenal. Mostly the reason why I bought the brand in the first place. Worth the money. For anyone that needs to know I used a Yamaha dd-65 drum pad with it and it worked great.

Technology has come a long way from when bass amps were huge and weighed like boat anchors, this amp is super light and perfect for practice and small venues. Was considering the smaller Rumble 25 but didn’t feel comfortable with the 8” speaker for a bass. This Rumble 40 has more features and definitely has better low end than the 25.

I have gigged with this amp for close to a year now (about 30+ shows) and this little guy is amazing in the tone to weight department. For years I played through an Ampeg HLF4x10 cabinet with a Yorkville Bassmaster head 400watt (the tone of this can re-arrange your guts) and I loved it...for the tone, but the rig is beastly heavy and big. I was initially interested in the Rumble 500 with the two 10" speakers (because I like the punchiness of 10 inch speakers) but when I went to the music store then only had the Rumble 100 watts. I tried it out and played through the amp for close to an hour (I play G&L L-2000 USA). The amp sounded great...just awesome tone, beefy bottom, and lots of adjustments in the EQ's. And it only weighs 22 lbs.! So my wife got me one for Christmas (but gave it to me sooner because we had shows and why wait?) I play in a four piece (now five) rock cover band and this things gets plenty loud. 90% of our indoor venues are bars, restaurants or social clubs (American Legions, Eagles, etc.) and this amp is more than enough. I have used it for numerous out door gigs as well and with the DI out to the PA, the amp is fine. I have never had the gain past 25% and the main past 50% for any gig. In fact, I can set the upper limit of the main to about 45% and then control my volume with the volume pot on the bass itself. You can switch to a distorted channel...I'd say that is fairly descent, better than many pedals I have tried, but I rarely use it (except for Smoke on the Water...but not always...more of a personal choice). There is an effects loop, but that is not controlled by a foot switch (only switching the between the main channel and the dirty channel is controlled by a foot switch), and that is the only major knock on this amp. But for price, the tone (fantastic) and the weight (the box feels like it is empty!) this amp is tough to beat. At the store, I tried Ampegs small combo that are comparable (and I love my Ampeg cabinet) but this Fender Rumble sounded markedly better to me. It is not just the tone, but the amp really responds to how you play the bass. The guitar players in the band are jealous at how little this thing weighs. And it hardly takes up any room in the van when we load out for shows. You can gig with this amp, no problem. I should add that our band really endeavors to keep our stage levels reasonable...a lot of venues and crowds these days just don't go for the wall of noise anymore. But if you play in a band where your guitars run full or half stacks, this amp can still hang if you also direct out to the PA and use the amp itself to monitor. I really care about my tone, and my Ampeg/Yorkville rig destroys...I played that rig for years....but 9/10 times it is overkill, and who knows if the audience truly appreciates it anyway...? the Fender Rumble 100 sounds great...it is super light and small, but packs a solid punch. I also have a Peavy 75 watt combo (my first amp) 12" speaker...also sounds really good, but weighs almost three times as much, and no where near as loud. I can't recommend this amp enough. If you are looking for your fist amp, or you're looking for you next amp and are tired of dealing with a monster rig, this is what you ought to purchase. As I have gone on in years playing shows...the saying 'less is more' holds true. A side note: This amp did stop working near the end of our last set at a party...we were outside, but the amp was in shade...the power just cut out...and would not power back up, at all. (I plugged my bass into the board and when finished the show). Fender has a 5 year warranty and the place my wife bought it has a two year warranty on top of that...I sent it back ($22 my cost) and i was sent a brand new amp (Fender does not repair these amps, they only replace from what I was told). Anyway, the replacement came back FedEx in two days and this little amp is back in business and 4 months later (another dozen or so shows and a lost of rehearsals) it is still going strong. ...there is a part of me that still wonders if I would like the 500 watt with the two 10" speakers even more...but I am very satisfied with the little guy. (I added a photo of a gig we did at a wine festival so you can see I have used it outdoors...the amp is on the right side of the drums, and it looks very nice with the silver speaker cover...our band is WonderChunk...wonderchunk-dot-com) Thanks for reading.
