Description

Forget any preconceived notions of practice amps. Made in Orange’s brand new state of the art factory the Crush range sets a new benchmark for quality, introducing players of all levels to the essence of Orange. For 2015 the Crush series has been completely overhauled. Orange’s mission was to not to reinvent the wheel, but to buck the trend - you won’t find any sterile digital amp modelling here. Building on the huge success of their critically acclaimed Crush Pro models, they’ve introduced the same high gain, 4 stage preamp design into the Crush range. This means responsive overdrive and detailed levels of saturation never before heard in a practice amplifier. Powerful analogue circuits create amps with ‘gut punch’ tones which react like their bigger brothers in the Orange family, whilst their new CabSim feature faithfully emulates the muscle of an Orange 4x12" cabinet through the headphone output. The Crush 35RT brings the legendary Orange sound to the rehearsal room. Sharing the Crush 20RT’s twin channel design, digital reverb, chromatic tuner and Cab Sim, the Crush 35’s larger size and bigger output section delivers even greater punch and volume. Complete with a transparent, fully buffered effects loop this amp goes way beyond the call of the traditional ‘practice’ amplifier.

  • The Orange 35RT is a new breed of SS amp.
I've been wanting for a long time for a solid state amp that does dirt well. I've had several amps - tube and solid state. To be honest - solid state has already gotten my go to nod for playing clean. I have a Roland Micro Cube Guitar RX and a Cube 40GX. Both are simply outstanding for playing their clean models, and they come with plenty of worthy perks that tube amps often don't have for cheap. Definitely solid state is by year getting better and better. This amp from Orange - to me - is the first solid state where the dirty channel is *better* than the clean channel! A dirty channel that is getting close to being worthy of being the go to option rather than a tube amp. I *really* like this amp. I've not tried other Orange amps and won't speak for if indeed matches the Orange tube amp sound. That sound on the dirty channel is *very* impressive. Dial in the gain on the dirty channel to any level distortion from clean to gonzo++ - it delivers. You get a tube like punchiness on the note attack. You can get that break up on a raked chord - yet smoothly and musically blooming into lush. Was just amazed how well this amp will accept gain - punch into that chord - yet still be able to discern each note of it. That's really tough for solid state. Being an old hand with too much experience with a lot of gain on solid state amps, I was truly listening in on the note decay. Too many solid state amps will decay badly - cutoff too soon, fade in and out, and otherwise sound fart. Not this amp. Some other solid states do pretty well, but not at level of gain of this amp. Simply an impressive and very adjustable sound. The clean channel is just good. It is warm and articulate - worthy, but not the outstanding feature of this amp. The cleans on my Roland amps, especially a Hughes and Kettner Tubemeister 18, will eat its lunch. Get this amp for the entire range of dirt - from clean-ish - to the beyond out there. Yes - the 4 stage gain knob has a wonderful - all useable - range. The 3 band EQ is good too. Really like the separate volume knobs for the clean and dirty channels. You can adjust to get that seamless switch in between channels. I do like the 10" speaker. Not had the chance to play it really loud - but sounds great from quiet up to a descent medium. It could get a lot louder. One thing I like about solid state is that volume is independent of the volume saturation needed by a tube amp. So this amp can do apartment and bedroom duty along with small venues. The tuner is adequate. The same for the reverb. It doesn't really kick in until 12 oclock and while you can fine tune - you can't go very aggressive. Like most dirty channels, not all pedals are accepted really well. That also goes for the clean channel as it's not as pristine as most cleans. So another huge bonus is the EFX loop. Not tried yet - but a another key reason to get this amp. Should be very useful. I considered the 20RT till I noticed that it didn't have the EFX loop. All in all - this is a nice amp. I really like how Orange has focused on one thing and done it extremely well, rather than too many half baked features. A landmark for a solid state amp in this price range - you get a superb fully adjustable dirty channel with a rich signature sound - and an EFX loop to properly extend it. I have had a lot of fun already with this one... Update 5/23/2017: Still have this amp. Definitely holds onto it's place in my GAS influenced amp lineup. Yes - like many here I suspect I'm guilty of getting new equipment. Just like a kid in a candy store. But to stay in my household - there must be something special. This amp does have that signature Orange dirt sound. To me it's about it's articulation even when in crazy gain settings. Orange seems to be about keeping an element of high frequencies intact even when everything else is getting loose. I have an acoustic simulator pedal. What it seems to do is scoop the mids and add a very heavy dose of very high. Quite a few of my other amps cannot handle this. Even some known for their extraordinary cleans. This amp will handle it - clean or dirty channel - and sounds amazingly wonderful with it. This amp is a bit of a one tick pony - very simple - but simply sounds great doing it. And other amps cannot be dialed in to match it - to my satisfaction. So there you have it. A simple to use amp with a great clean channel and that special Orange dirty sound. If you like that kind of dirty sound - you will like this amp... ... show more

  • Very fun very orange
Color: Orange
If you’re not playing larger shows, this is plenty loud enough. If you’re in an apartment like me, volumes over 5 will annoy your neighbors so be careful. The headphone out routed into your audio interface is a great way to record without being too loud. I love the crunchy tones you can generate with this guy. Takes distortion well too. It in fact does not smell like oranges though, no matter how many times I sniff the grille. Would recommend as a good jam amp that you can record with. ... show more

  • Punches well above its weight
Color: Orange
This thing sounds fantastic. Not just for a budget amp, but for any amp. The clean and the dirty channel both kick butt. They pretty much sound good no matter what knob you twist, and there’s of versatility as far as the sounds you can get out of this thing. The built in reverb sounds nice too. Having a built in tuner is very handy, it’s got an effects loop, and you can add a foot switch to go between the channels. Also it’s LOUD. I use this amp to play at home, and haven’t needed to go above 3 yet. At that level I’m sure the neighbors can hear. Id imagine it’s plenty loud enough to gig with but I haven’t tried it next to a drum set yet so I can’t say that for sure. What I do know is I’m thrilled with my purchase. It sounds great, has all the features I’d want, it’s inexpensive, and looks and feels well built. Orange gets a big thumbs up from me for this one. ... show more

  • It does what I need....look for a bundle that has pedal for clean/dirty
Color: Orange
Not a big tech guy, I am intermediate at guitar. Overall, I enjoy the tone, even when dialing in certain tones the range is more than I expected. Clean or Dirty. As I say in the title; look for a bundle with a switch pedal, I saw them a week after. They are $10 more and have cables and a pedal.

  • Great sound, value for money
Color: Orange
I am in LOVE with this amp. I’m using it to jam in my bedroom for now, and it’s pretty doggone loud. Taking it past 9 o’clock on the knob is neighbor-annoyance territory in our apartment complex. I’m using my headphones to jam part of the time, and it’s incredible. The versatility of the sound, the clarity at all gain levels, and the features (built in tuner, reverb, effects loop, 4x12 cab sim in headphones) all make it well worth the money. Plus the fact that I can bring it for a four or five person jam session and still be loud enough to be easily heard is awesome. I’ll be getting the FS-1 foot switch to easily switch between clean and dirty channels. UPDATE: I ended up buying the FS-1, and it works great. I have been and getting great sound just by dialing the amp. No pedals, just my guitar hooked up to the amp. I’m going to start hooking up some pedals pretty soon just for some variation, but you can get a real variety of sounds directly from the amp. Still loving my purchase. ... show more

  • Great, but not for metal
Color: Black
This amp is a great deal, it’s simple and straight to the point with all the necessities and quality needed but none of the excessive fillers or gimmicks of typical modeling amps these days. The result of this sacrifice is a open dynamic sound that is not stifled. But as the title says… it is not for metal and does not have that saturated gain needed for metal that is beyond just power chords. A distortion pedal might be a good solution, but a ts9 overdrive wasn’t enough to push it. In fact the gain on this amp feels more like an overdrive than anything, great for that fuzzy edge that sounds bluesy when at mid, rock when pushed, and a boost to cleans when on low. Which all still sounds really good, so if that’s your style this amp is great but if you’re more metal oriented, prepare for compensating. ... show more

  • My son who plays electric guitar LOVES this amp!
Color: Orange
I sent this down to my son in Virginia, he is 22 yo and plays the electric guitar. I had gotten him another amp a few years back (can't remember the brand since I'm not into music), but this one is reasonable, attractive looking, and has the best sound of any amp he's had, he told me specifically... he says it's SWEET, and he uses others words about it that I can't recall right now, but they are all good and something a musician would understand as far as one amp vs. others. When he was up in NY we tried this one at Guitar Center and he was smitten when he played it there, so I sent him one for his birthday. He's using it daily. VERY satisfied. He sends me songs he's playing and new songs he's written the music too, and it always sounds just like the professionals. This little amp packs a HUGE amount of punch. Love the quality and sound that comes over to mom across the miles! I'd definitely recommend to beginners and pros alike. ... show more
