I don’t sew very much these days. On the occasion, when I need to hem something, I thought this hemmer foot would be a good guide. It took me a few tries to get the foot to seat on my sewing machine. The top of my machine is not completely flat. I had a pair of knit pajamas that I wanted to use this on first because it’s a soft thin fabric and I really wanted to see if it would hold the fabric in place. It did. The magnet is strong and did not move around once I found the sweet spot. It worked great for hemming these pants. The seam is neat and straight. I tried in on heavy cotton also. I used the screw to adjust the tension and it worked very well with the heavier fabric also. I feel this a good guide to use and would recommend.

I don't use this for fabric. I use it as a guide for lines of stitching leather for projects. Adjustable screw moves easily and smoothly. Base is not only magnetic (for a standard sewing machine) but has a rough tread to keep it still. I position it against a firm surface and attach it to a metal base. Works well for me. Can't speak to whether it works well for its conventional purpose. Good value.
