  • Gets the jacket off your neck and jawline. Comfy.
Color: Blue Size: X-Small-Small Style: Vest
GF wanted a nice life jacket. Three vests later she's happy with this one. The others rode up and rubbed on her neck and face while seated. This thing feels like a ballistic vest, in fact, it'd be some serious chest protection in a collision. Pretty well made vest, not the greatest fabric or webbing but light weight. This vest leaves your arms free to paddle etc. Plenty expensive for the materials they used but whatever. You don't wear a vest you don't like. This one she likes and I can see why. ... show more

  • Works great
Color: Blue Size: X-Large-XX-Large Style: Vest
I was replacing a 20year old pfd. This met the need. Reasonably priced, simple, fits well. Nothing fancy. It does not have pockets—that would have been nice. I clipped my whistle on the webbing between the floatation sections on the inside of the jacket. It did not stick out. I use it for kayaking. I have not used it immersedin water. So far it’s comfortable, easy to adjust the fit. ... show more

  • Great vest for the money
Color: Yellow Size: X-Large-XX-Large Style: Vest
I've been using the best for over a month. I find that it is comfortable and fits well. As with any vest there is a little bulk in the front but it is not obtrusive. I fell into the cold water from my paddle board in April and was glad I had the best on. I weigh 225 and it kept me afloat while I recovered and got back into the board. It has a very useful little tab to hold as you align the zipper and zip the vest up. The zipper itself is easy to use and works smoothly. Overall a very good and comfortable vest. ... show more

  • Sturdy, easily supports a 170lb male, very comfortable.
Color: Yellow Size: Medium-Large Style: Vest
This is a good no-nonsense life vest, quality build, good colors, gives me total freedom of movement in the kayak. The zipper, as others have mentioned, is a bit of a struggle at first, but after a week, it's a breeze to zip. No pockets or pouches to speak of, but overall, a very nice vest.

  • Good looking and comfortable PDF
Color: Yellow Size: Medium-Large Style: Vest
Fit very well without seeming bulky. This is similar to the other Onyx PDF that has zippered pockets. No pockets or whistle come with this model. It has adjustment straps on the shoulders and two on each side to tighten. I own another model of the Onyx and they do not restrict arm movements for paddling. The back flotation is shorter to rest above most kayak seatbacks. I'm 5'3" and short-waisted and these work for me. ... show more

  • Right Out of The Box...
Color: Blue Size: X-Small-Small Style: Vest
And onto my body! I opened the box, removed the PFD from the plastic bag, unzipped it, slipped it on, zipped it up and wore it around the house for an hour to get the feel of it. Look no further. This PFD fits like a glove. It's very lightweight. Arm "holes" are generously sized. Paddling will not be a problem. VERY well made. VERY well stitched. VERY quality materials used. VERY easy to adjust around the waist and shoulder straps. LOVE it. I am female, 5'6" and 150#. I purchased the Blue XSmall/Small. It is Coast Guard approved and suggested for people 90#s and up. I am ordering a Medium/Large one for my husband who is 5'11" and 175#. There are 2 loops (gray in color) located on the upper front on either side where the extra length of shoulder adjustment straps tuck under so they aren't flapping around. I attached a whistle to one of these loops using a carabiner. No pockets, but the fit and color are stellar!! ... show more

  • Great life vest for stand up paddleboard!
Color: Yellow Size: Medium-Large Style: Vest
This is a great little life vest for paddling. I wear it for stand up paddle boarding, and it is comfortable, allows for good arm movement, and good ventilation. I used it once while volunteering at a swim race. A swimmer was swimming straight toward me, and I was trying to get his attention thinking he was off course. When he grabbed my board, knocking me off, I realized he was actually in trouble and wanting help. Glad I had this on because that surprised me. The vest did a great job keeping me afloat while I helped the swimmer and got us back to my board. I actually lost the vest recently, so just now ordered another one. The way I lost it was I was paddling by moonlight in calm water looking at the stars. I was using the vest as a pillow. It wasn't attached to me or the board. When I got up to paddle again, the water was choppier so a few moments later, I went to get it to put it on, and whoops, it had fallen off. Being dark, and the current going the other way, I didn't try to look for it. Lesson learned. Always wear it, or at very least attach it to your board! Also, put your name and number in permanent ink. That way, if you do lose it, maybe someone will find it and call you. ... show more

  • Fits like a glove
Color: Yellow Size: Medium-Large Style: Vest
I can't say enough good about this life vest. We became the owners of a lake cabin a little under two years ago. Last summer was our first time owning a boat and kayaks. Because we had so much upfront cost, we purchased those cheap, orange life vests just to have something for safety reasons. My husband also picked up some higher quality life vests on Craigslist. I was so unhappy with both of these. The orange ones are, well, one-size-fits-all and are quite bulky. The higher quality ones he picked up on Craigslist were clearly designed for men, made to fit broader shoulders. These kinds of vests also cause problems when on is kayaking because typical vests tend to bunch up and lift to your ears when sitting inside the kayak. With a new summer approaching, and because I love to kayak, I decided it was time to look for something better suited to my frame and activity. I did a lot of searching, paying attention to both style AND price. I kept coming back to this one so finally purchased it. It arrived yesterday and fit me like a glove right out of the packaging. I was shocked I didn't even have to adjust a single strap! Obviously, not everyone will have this out-of-the-box experience, but it worked for me. ;-) The vest materials are lightweight enough and cut in such a way to allow freedom of movement necessary for kayaking, but it's also bulky enough that I have no trouble imagining that its floatation abilities would be effective. For reference, I am 5'9" and around 180 lbs. I have a longer torso (so usually have problems finding shirts that are long enough for me). ... show more
