I bought this for my hammock tent to add a layer of warmth with the winter weather. I can feel the difference in warmth from the bare bottom of the tent. It almost feels like you wouldn’t even need a four seasons sleeping bag. I can’t wait to see how it does in extreme cold temperatures. It is a bit bulky to carry in my pack but it’s definitely worth the bulk and weight it adds having it. This was my first underquilt so I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect. My first outing with it was camping in Yosemite, in late April. There was a cold snap the week we went out, and temps remained between 20-30F. Luckily this underquilt (along with a decent sleeping bag) saved my ass. I slept like a baby, warmer than ever. This thing has proven to be light, easy to pack, easy to set up, and proven to be warm (may be difficult if you’re very tall). There are lighter, more portable, and warmer underquilts abailable, if needed for an extreme outing. Due to back issue, I sleep in a hammock (using a folding hammock stand from Walmart which is AWESOME). I have a down under quilt for the winter (Hammock gear), but this is a good summer underquilt for the nights it gets a little cold. I just pull it out from under me if I get too hot. The bungee style cables allow for this. I use a small pillow from MyPillow as a neck pillow. I haven't had back pain in years. ... show more
