I love love love this chair. The base is metal and super sturdy. The cushion is very thick and comfortable. It look about 2-3 hours to put together by myself, It’s probably easier with 2 people. I do not know for sure if this chair would hold 550 lbs, but it can hold my wife and I with a combined weight of 290 lbs! 😉 The chair is built ot a strudy metal frame with perfectly designed and attached cushions for a smooth and comfortable feel. The assembly process is very easy and straight forward. This is a beautiful chair and has quickly become the subject of debate in our house over who gets to sit in it. My daughter has already claimed it as her “reading chair.” It’s very comfortable and has a really elegant look to it. While it’s marketed as an outdoor chair, I’d probably recommend using it in a sunroom or in a covered outdoor space. If it’s fully exposed to rain and weather, I’m not sure it would hold up as well long-term. Assembly wasn’t difficult, but the instructions could definitely be better. It took about an hour to put together, and I had to switch pieces around a couple of times — especially with the legs. One tip: make sure the curved support piece goes in before tightening the other parts, otherwise you’ll likely have to loosen everything back up to fit it in. After taking the legs apart twice, one screw ended up getting a little stripped and didn’t fully snug down, but the chair still feels sturdy and secure overall. ... show more
