There's a version of yourself that figures everything is probably fine and doesn't need monitoring. That version of you is optimistic and I respect him. There's also the version of you that buys an OMRON and actually checks — the one who decided that knowing is better than guessing when it comes to what's happening inside your chest. That version is smarter, and he has better data. The OMRON Silver is no-nonsense in the best way. Wrap the cuff, sit still, press the button, and thirty seconds later you have actual numbers — not an approximation, not a vibe, not a nurse telling you to relax while you're actively not relaxed. Real readings you can track, compare, and bring to your doctor instead of shrugging and saying it seemed okay. The large display is easy to read, the memory stores multiple readings, and the whole thing takes less effort than convincing yourself you don't need it. A word on the data: it will occasionally be higher than you'd like, usually right after coffee, a stressful phone call, or simply reading the news. This is not the monitor's fault. The OMRON is just the honest messenger — and as messengers go, it's a reliable one. Consistent readings, clinically validated accuracy, no drama. I like that this device is dead simple to use. The app that corresponds to the monitor works well once you set it up. I like that it syncs with apple healthkit so that all of my readings are in one place. That was a critical feature for me and I’m glad that it works well. Now all of my readings are in 3 different places: The device itself, the Omron app, and the Apple Health app. Apple health syncing makes it easy to send all of my vitals recorded from different devices to my doctor in one report. That’s why it was so important to me that this worked with what I’m currently using. Battery life seems to be decent as I have been taking readings consistently for the past few months and I recently started seeing the low battery icon this week. I wish the screen on the device had a backlight to read in a darker room. I do like that the readings are large on screen and easy to read in a bright room. When in less than ideal lighting conditions, you can always use your phone to read your results in the app. I bought this one to replace a BP cuff that couldn’t sync to Apple Healthkit. The measurements between the two devices are pretty close to one another, so I feel confident about the accuracy of the readings. I also wish this came with the AC power adapter so you could plug it in instead of using batteries. You have to buy that separately, which is what I’m going to do because batteries are very expensive these days. The adapter will pay for itself over time. I just think it should’ve been included. Also, the travel bag is very thin and cheap and doesn’t offer any protection from bumps or drops, but it keeps the cuff and the monitor in one place. Overall, this is a decent BP monitor with bluetooth features and Apple Healthkit compatibility. I wish it were cheaper, came with the AC adapter included, had a backlight, and had a better quality travel bag. The benefits outweigh the drawbacks though. ... show more

I bought this because the brand is reputable and I thought the cuff would be easy to put on by myself. However something about the device was giving me a bottom number 20 points higher than what I was getting at the doctor's office. I think the cuff design made it difficult for me to get the leverage needed to tighten the cuff around my arm properly. I also think if you have a smaller arm you might be able to get accurate numbers but if your arm is on the larger side, even if it falls within the cuff recommended size, you should probably look elsewhere. ... show more

Overall, this blood pressure monitor works very well, records the readings accurately every time I use it, and transfers the data to my iPhone perfectly. However, I had trouble with the design of the cuff. I understand it was meant to make getting the cuff onto your arm without any help easier to do; the end that you put on your arm first is very stiff and curled so that you can get it wrapped around with one hand. The rest of the length of the cuff is soft and flexible, and can easily be wrapped around on top of that, and secured with the Velcro. Unfortunately, that means that if the inside length of the your upper arm is not greater than the width (side to side, not the length) of the cuff, the hard side edges of the cuff when wrapped around your arm will dig into the skin in the crook of your elbow and under your armpit. The Amazon product page for this device doesn’t provide a measurement for the width of the cuff, only the minimum and maximum arm circumference it can go around, which I am well within. I’m about 5 foot seven and have normal length arms for someone that tall, so I found it surprising that it didn’t work for me. If that measurement had been included in the product description, I could’ve measured my arm and checked that before I ordered. (Unfortunately, I didn’t think to measure the cuff myself before I sent it back so that I could include that information here for others. Sorry about that!) So, I found this BP monitor quite uncomfortable to use, and after just half a dozen readings I was starting to see a bruise below the cuff edge nearest my elbow. So I’ve returned it and will have to try something else. I’m disappointed, because I really liked everything else about this device, including the price. ... show more
