I purchased this for my sister after I'd purchased a similar one for myself. She was super excited because she was able to return a cheaper one she'd bought from Walmart that she had to streong separately. Having the line, bouy , stuff sack and clip made her first paddleboard anchoring a breeze. Ther anchor held her paddleboard plus her boyfriend's kayak in 15mph winds in some moderate chop - which is pretty good for a 3lb anchor. The float isn't the best. If not positioned properly, it will go under, but its not that big of a deal. In all my years of much larger anchoring experience, having a float is just a convenience to mark the anchor. The one thing I will say is that I wish it came with knotting instructions. My sister would have used this on day 1 had it come with that, which is why this got 4 stars instead of 5. That plus the stuff sack isn't so heavy duty and will no doubt eventually fall apart. Again, no big deal since stuff sacks are cheap and easily replaceable. ... show more

Liked the rope length, double what I needed for this application. Liked the small float that helps keep the rope near the surface. And the teeth from the 4-point anchor grabs the sandy seabed easily. I use this to stop drifting when I use my personal 1-person floater. Otherwise I’m hand paddling for the entire time I’m in the ocean to keep aligned with my chair and umbrella. We have been out kayaking so many times and tethered together to have lunch or just chill only to find ourselves a mile down the lake! This anchor is a great addition to our kayaking adventures. We also have an anchor kit to make it safer when we tether together. It is designed for kayak fishing so it is absolutely secure if installed properly. This is a decent anchor to use for kayaks or canoes, there is plenty of rope and the anchor deploys easily. However, the white float is just polystyrene and not protected with any type of hard covering. I found that the float was easily dented and pieces could come off with use. A rubber or plastic covering would go a long way to make it last longer. ... show more

Pretty straight forward. It's an anchor. I have several Lifetime sit in kayaks that my kids and I use for fishing and fun. And an issue that we have been trying to resolve without buying a whole new kayak is getting them to stay in an area while fishing. So the anchor. I drilled a hold in the forward portion of the cockpit shelf and installed a carabiner to retain the anchor bag and rope when in storage as well as when in use. So far we have not had any issues with snagging. The weight is just about perfect to hold station when deployed in shallow water. In deeper water it slows the drift significantly. But you will still drift. Construction is solid and the rope is a weaved soft nylon so it won't retain water like cotton. It will fray a bit if you have any snags but nothing major. The fluke retention knuckle is pretty easy to use. Close all 4 flukes then drop the retention ring down over them and give a slight twist. There is a notch for a locking lug so when you twist it you engage the locking lug into the retention ring. Open the flukes is the reverse, twist then lift the lock ring and let the flukes fall outward then toss into the water. I'll be getting another one for my other kayak soon. ... show more
