Description

Update: VINDICTA (Book 6), the final book in the core series will be released on June 28th, 2022. A TOP SECRET, JOINT U.S.—RUSSIAN SPECIAL FORCES RAID AGAINST A HIDDEN LABORATORY OFF THE COAST OF INDIA YIELDS AN ALARMING DISCOVERY! Anatoly Reznikov, the deranged bioweapons scientist stolen from U.S. custody a few years earlier, vanished minutes before the attack--taking his deadly work with him. In the United States, Beltway power brokers grapple with True America's surprise presidential win, finding the new administration to be anything but easy to work with. Karl Berg, demoted within the CIA due to the sudden shift in agency leadership, seeks to stay out of trouble, and retire quietly--a task he finds impossible when news of Reznikov's near-capture unofficially reaches his desk. Oblivious to the growing threats domestic and abroad, Daniel and Jessica Petrovich finalize their plan to abandon the "Black Flag" business for good, only to have it delayed by close-hitting news. A last minute trip to the United States drags them closer to an unfolding plot in the heart of Washington D.C. A plot connected to everyone and everything the Petrovich's have touched. A diabolical conspiracy none of them saw coming--AND ONLY ONE GROUP CAN STOP! THE BLACK FLAGGED SERIES: Book 1: ALPHA Book 2: REDUX Book 3: APEX Book 4: VEKTOR Book 5: OMEGA Book 6: VINDICTA SEE BELOW FOR CURRENT TIE-IN'S TO THE BLACK FLAGGED BOOKS. THE ZULU VIRUS CHRONICLES: This series is named after the virus introduced (created by rogue scientist Dr. Anatoly Reznikov) in REDUX (Book 2). “ZVC” takes place roughly a decade and a half after the core series ends. I originally designed this series as an alternate universe, where the virus that turned a Russian city inside-out, was finally launched in the United States by the domestic terrorists that commissioned its creation (See APEX, Book 3). The Zulu Virus Chronicles is Operation REBOOT (introduced in VINDICTA, Book 6) made real. It’s a frightening look at a mass-scale bioweapons attack against America, perpetrated by domestic terrorists. Several Black Flag operatives show up to try and “save the day” in the series (2nd and 3rd book), including Richard Farrington and the Petroviches. THE DEVIN GRAY BOOKS: DEEP SLEEP, the first book in my latest series, centers around a Russian sleeper conspiracy, on a magnitude never previously explored in the espionage genre. I don’t say that lightly. It truly takes the sleeper concept to the next level—and who better to help Devin Gray take down this network than Karl Berg, who is drawn into the plot early and plays a key role throughout. Of course, he recommends the latest iteration of the Black Flag crew to help with the “unsavory” aspects of unraveling a nationwide conspiracy. Black Flagged fans will absolutely love the crossover in this series. Richard Farrington. Scott Daly. Melendez. Miralles. So many more. It’s a must read for Black Flagged readers. This series takes place before ZVC. THE RYAN DECKER BOOKS: I seem to have a penchant for “hard luck” protagonists who need help, and the Ryan Decker series is no exception—though Decker manages to get through the third book without needing the Black Flag crew. That said, the conspiracy he unravels in the third book leads to a “reckoning” of sorts in the final book of the series, and there’s no way to take down APEX Industries without some serious outside help. Enter…Richard Farrington and a small crew of trusted (well known to you) mercenaries. Disclaimer: The Black Flag crew does not arrive until SKYSTORM, Book 4, but when they do, it rivals anything I’ve previously written with them. Seriously…it’s next level. Read more

  • You can't put it down, and you'll want more when done
Format: Kindle
This entire series and tie-ins with other novels by this author is an action packed series that you just can't put down. Despite knowing that I can close the book and finish the story tomorrow I found myself extremely reluctant to stop reading. Plenty of action, exotic places and situations, a diabolical renegade scientist who will eventually causes a major catastrophe despite everything this experienced and superbly trained team can do to stop him and his terrorist colleagues. I really enjoyed the entire series and I keep bumping into vague references to many of the characters and situations in other books making the entire series feel like reality instead of a series of fictional novels. Weapons and tactics are up to date and sensibly employed as they would be in real life. You won't be satisfied until you have read the entire series. . . and then you will want more. ... show more

  • Exciting action grabs you from page one...
Format: Kindle
I really enjoyed this thriller, the latest in the Black Flag series from Steven Konkoly. Great characters who have become friends,in suspenseful plots, you can't put the book down! The only problem is this book does set up for the next, so some things are not finished, which leaves me with too many questions. Pick this up for suspense and action, it is very good!! ... show more

  • If you like Brad Taylor, Tom Clancy, Vince Flynn, John Sandford and Scott McEwen, this is your next series.
Format: Kindle
I will admit to being a huge Steven Konkoly fan and have read almost all of his books. But the Black Flagged series is my favorite. With that said, I do admit that this book started off a little slow. But once it get's going the book takes off with the usual Konkoly style of putting you in the action. The best part of his writing is that nothing is confusing, and everything is very descriptive without being wordy or grandiloquent. You literally feel like you are right there witnessing events unfold. Almost like VR. The story itself has already been written about so I won't go into details about that. When I buy a military fiction book I want to know how well it's written, is it technical and accurate, and is it another campy squeaky clean hero that has experienced pain and is now fighting a righteous battle. This book is technical and accurate. Steven describes the guns, the optics, the accessories and it's realistic potential. The man was practically a Seal after all. His characters are not squeaky clean war heros. They are flawed and have done things that wreak havoc on their conscience. But this a Black ops unit. Doing the dirty work and sometimes it's really gritty and dirty. You see how the work effects them. Another Steven writing gift is how he makes his character's real. You feel they actually exist and this is more non-fiction. But again, without being sappy or any melodrama involved. Thrse are three dimensional people and not over-the-top super soldiers from Seal Team Six and Delta Force written like a sketch piece in a recruitment ad. This book delivers all the action, drama, tension, weapons, gunfights, hand to hand and espionage you could want. If McEwen, Telep, Greaney and Konkoly got together for an anthology series, Steven would write the first and last books for it. A master story teller. This is not Marcinko or C.G. Cooper. ... show more

  • A fantastic read with some intriguing twists
Format: Kindle
Wow! Damn you, Konkoly! Not only has he turned out yet another page turner, but it kept me up late into the night, and left me anxiously awaiting the next installment. A fantastic read with some intriguing twists, not to mention an eerie resemblance to current political matters (which can only be coincidental, as the book was written long before the current administration came to power). All in all, an excellent book that, while satisfying on its own, leaves you anxiously awaiting his next book in the series. ... show more

  • The most interesting segue.
Format: Kindle
Almost all the characters return. At least to me, this book felt like (because... it kinda is) a segue, so a few things happen out of nowhere, some explanation is given. Overall, many changes have been made when it comes to internal power struggles within the States (but not only). As a fan of Steven Konkoly, I've gotten used to his writing style, which thankfully doesn't change throughout the series. Neither does the pace, which is very fast. Constant running, planning, and shooting, with only a handful of scenes in the White House or Langley. And those have me always curious, as a European reader, I very much enjoy worldwide conspiracies. There's both — agents communicating by disposable cellphones, and a group of killers going wild in the city. Good old Black Flagged, one would say. ... show more

  • Excellent series!
Format: Kindle
This series provides the reader an excellent opportunity to try to figure out who, or what's next. The accuracy of locations, historical reference, and weaponry is next to none. I have read one of his other series and find this series a much better read. The other address well written and interesting, but I find this one superior! ... show more

  • Inauthentic
Format: Kindle
It has been too long since I read the last black flag book, and I do remember some characters, but it doesn’t do enough for me. Then I wasn’t compelled to go full throttle into it, putting it down and picking it up, needless to say I had a hard time. When they got to the refueling stop and got ambushed - it appears the SEALS disappeared. This battle is too far out for me to accept it, as far as I am concerned Konkloy blows it here, and I give up. 3 ... show more

  • Worth the wait
Format: Kindle
I've been angry with Steve for a few years. When I found Alpha: book 1 of the Black Flagged series a few years ago, Books 1-3 were already written, and it didn't take me long to read all of them. Thankfully, I didn't have to wait long for Book 4 Vektor to come out. Since then, I've been waiting impatiently for Book 5 Omega. Jet: Black (crossover with Russell Blake's series) was a good quick read a couple of years ago to make me happy for a brief period, but it was back to waiting. Omega was worth the wait. As with other books in the series, good action. Characters have depth, and everything doesn’t go well for the good guys which I like because it is not predictable. Steve could not conclude the series with Omega and says it won't take as long for the next one. I hope not. ... show more
