  • Wow, it really works!
Color: Natural Beech
I admit I was skeptical when I first got it, it looked too clumsy and awkward to work well, or so I thought. But after setting it up and giving it a try, I was pleasantly surprised. It works quite well! It simplifies the winding process, making it much more enjoyable and less prone to tangles. I thought the pulling of the yarn would yank this device around, but it stayed put and unwound the yarn, without a clamp. It's own weight was sufficient to keep it in place, amazingly. Pros: – It actually works, and quite consistently. No more tangles. – It works without a clamp; simply set it on a flat surface, making it highly versatile for any workspace. – Collapsible and portable. – Made from natural untreated wood. Cons: – No Ball Winder Included. This is just the swift; a separate ball winder is needed for the complete process. I highly recommend this tool for knitters and crocheters. Its stand-alone design and smooth operation make winding yarn a breeze, transforming a chore into a simple pleasure. ... show more

  • My hanks don't fall off
Color: Natural Beech
Works nicely, no more worries about my swift collapsing and my yarn hanks falling off. I'm very pleased that I found this style. My only wishes are that the optional clamp was a bit more ergonomic and that the base was a little thicker. On the wobbly table I use for warn winding the arms somtimes brushes my table, but that has caused any issues ... show more

  • Great value and excellent customer service!
Color: Natural Beech
The first swift I received arrived broken - the main center wood dowel was completely snapped in half. I was leery that I would get any assistance because I had received it more than a month earlier but didn’t open up the package due to lack of time. But, I contacted the seller direct and literally within 10 minutes of my email - on a Saturday - I got a reply! They sent me a new swift! Just got the new one and tried it. Works great! I’ve had others that have to be clamped to a table and I wanted one heavy enough to just be set. This one is able to do that and also comes with a clamp option. I’ve been able to use it just fine without the clamp and wind and fast speeds (using a drill with my winder!). The top of the swift slides up and down to secure yarn being wound - so fast and easy to use. Great value for the price and great customer service should you need it. When done using it, folds up and stands by itself and doesn’t take up too much space. ... show more

  • Works great on small size thread skeins
Color: Natural Beech
I bought this for some skeins of vintage Daisy brand crochet thread. After botching a skein trying to hand wind it loose, I bought this to try it. It works Great!! So yes it works on smaller threads too. This one is size 30 that I am just hand winding onto an empty tp roll.

  • Still needs clamping
Color: Natural Beech
The description says that this swift is a tabletop version and does not mention that it still needs to be clamped to a table edge. Had it said that, I never would have purchased it since it’s of no use to me. It seems like a decently built, sturdy swift but I specifically needed a non clamping one.

  • Sturdy and works smoothly
Color: Natural Beech
This umbrella swift feels substantial and sturdy. It was easy to set up and adjust to my yarn hank size. It folds up nicely so I can easily store it. I was able to set it up on the floor near my bench where I have set up my ball winder and comfortably wind my yarn.

  • Add rubber feet and it's perfect
Color: Natural Beech
Love, love, love this swift! I don't have a table that works well with clamps so I use this sitting on the tabletop. I added some little rubber feet to it to help it grip the surface better, and once you spin it a few times to work out some of the rough spots it gets a lot smoother. My only complaint is there is a bit of thick wire that sticks out and will jab you if you're not careful, but it's easy to avoid. ... show more

  • Functional But Not Sturdy
Color: Natural Beech
While I love its table top design, this swift isn’t sturdy. The prongs are held together by just twine and the wood is unfinished, which is a bit disappointing given the price point. I was planning to look past these two things but…I’ve now wound about 15 skeins, and I’ve had to fuss with it more and more to get it to expand to secure the skeins in place. With a few tweaks, this could be a great design. ... show more
