  • OH MY Goodness!!! Why did I wait
Style: Highland Smoker
Hi have smoked brisket for over 15 years with a cylander stand up type... ( like R2D2 ) lol And was nervous about this, but I learned quickly how to get the temps right.. There are a lot of Videos on youtube to help. The meat was NOT so dry as before... LOTS of great moisture in the meat. I smoked about 18 lbs of brisket... Go ahead and take the plunge, you will not be disapointed!! You will need to get a "gasket" for the lid... not tight enough.. although it worked for me... after it was clean and cool, I bought one and will use it next time. ... show more

  • Good for the money
Style: Highland Smoker
I'm actively seasoning the smoker now. All the paint is bubbling and looks like it will peel. Im going to put brisket on when the smoke is clean and we get back down to 275. Definitely wish I had bought the sealer strip before smoking today the smoke is leaking from the firebox terribly. I ordered it already and will put on for next time. Disappointed with the paint bubbling. Its going to rust out and won't last nearly as long as I was hoping with that. I think I was overzealous about how much fuel I needed to season because the smoke chamber is at 650 right now. Still I thought that the paint could handle seasoning, they should know this is the first thing we're going to do. So right now I'm Disappointed. I will update after the cook is done. Update: I've been using this guy for 6 or 8 cooks. It's a pita to maintain heat because it's a thin material. I'm still frustrated that the paint pealed. I'm pulling great TX style BBQ out of it though. I think you can do much better than this, but I also don't feel like paying for much better so for the money if you're willing to work at it this thing works great. I've been playing with the Temps and the thermometer installed is surprisingly accurate even with the terrible placement. Obviously, if you want clean smoke you're going to run a hot fire so the side closest to the firebox runs up to 75 degrees hotter than the chimney side. If you know this you can chose to rotate or not use that side. Worth the money in my opinion. ... show more

  • Don't count on timely delivery
Style: Highland Smoker
Don't order from Amazon if you are in a hurry. Because it is 180 lbs. they can't use the usual delivery services. Tracking told me it arrived at the delivery company 60 miles from my house 3 weeks before the scheduled delivery date. I arranged to drive to pick it up, otherwise I still wouldn't have it. Possible for one person to put it together (I did) but two would have been better due to the weight. I got a gasket kit but didn't install it before first cook. I went through a lot of coal, so maybe the gaskets will help. Seems like components that are vital are options: gaskets, firebox, drip bucket, all of which I have ordered. First time I've had a smoker of this type so still learning. ... show more

  • Great priduct, but a few missing parts
Style: Highland Smoker
This is a great purchase and we can't wait to use it. My only compliant is that the sign is not secured completely on the front of the smoker and one of the pins and washers for the handle was missing when the product arrived,

  • Worth the money
Style: Highland Smoker + Cover
I bought this smoker for my husband for Father’s Day, he absolutely loves it! The only bad this is the Oklahoma Joes emblem that goes on the front is broken, it came that way. We weren’t able to submit a return because we finally got it opened and put together almost 2 months after purchase. It’s a great smoker but it’s unfortunate the emblem that goes on it can’t be put on it. ... show more

  • Very basic
Style: Highland Smoker
There is not ash pan, and it needs two thermometers. While smoking, you can have a great difference in temp from one end to the other. I ended up having to make my own ash pans. One fore the fire box, and a larger one for the grill. I also decided I'll need to make a heat baffle, to even the temp across the grill. ... show more

  • Great smoker for the money.
Style: Highland Smoker
All this smoker needs is a gasket around the doors to hold the smoke in better. Otherwise it’s great.
