This arrived in a very timely manner and apparently stated condition. All in all the book was in pretty reasonable cond. for being around since 1988. It is limited as an instructional book for a beginner, I think more for an advanced student, who can see thru. a process, her color plates, art work and style are good. There is some show and tell in the latter part of the book. I think it could have had a little more break down and how to for the novice, who may not see how a composition was created. The one study break down was on drawing and painting west coast trawlers Thee are sections on flowers/still life, portrait/figure and land scape. this is a great teaching book. I have been painting for years and this has been the most informative book I have. I wish I had gotten joyce pikes teaching twenty years ago.
