So we have a good magnet on this gadget, it works extremely well. I have been using this in the car when I’m waiting to pickup my kid for carpool. I usually have multiple devices I’m managing and many times I will drop them. This is about the perfect device when I’m waiting in a parked car. I think this might also be useful for musicians, I have also been using this when I’m messing with music apps on multiple devices. I think if you are a guitarist and you use your phone while you play, this is kind of perfect. I am thin and the primary strap supplied fits my leg, but if you have a larger leg you can always use the extension they have supplied. While I am using this strap it holds one of my phones very well, but an older phone not as well. The reason I believe is because the magnetic cases are different, one has a larger magnet than the other. Obviously the larger magnet is going to hold better than a smaller one. I have also tried with my iPad Air 13 inch and a magnetic case. This works but not as well as an iPhone unsurprisingly. If your case does not have a larger enough magnet, or no magnet at all, you can use the supplied rings that adhere very well to this magnetic strap. It’s super low tech, just a magnet on a strap basically, so I’m not really sure it’s worth the asking price at the time of my order. On the other hand, if you need a way to hold a device and you cannot mount it to anything persistent, like on an plane flight or something, this is highly valuable. Being so low tech means it’s dead simple to operate, no moving parts so very little can break. I would buy this again if I needed another for some reason, but I don’t think I would buy it at the asking price ... show more

This magnetic knee board has a lot of uses outside of aviation, but I primarily use this at home. It's very useful in bed or on the couch for a bit of hands-free reading. The strap is nice and wide so it can get tight, but not feel uncomfortable like thinner straps would. The magnet really clings onto the metal disks this comes with. My iPad didn't have magnets in it, and this disk perfectly adapted it for this mount. Overall quality seems great while using it, I just think it's a little pricey. Disclaimer, I'm not a pilot and neither am I an octopus. Sometimes you just need to use both of your hands for something other than holding a tablet or phone. This solution allows you to comfortably view your tablet if necessary while NOT DRIVING. The strap is comfortable to wear and comes in two sizes, normal and thin legged person. I could get up and walk around and the strap held securely in place without feeling too tight. The velcro is high-end reliable and sturdy... They provide an extension piece of the velcro if you need to go around your entire lap or I can't even imagine... Just the single strap practically doubled around my thigh (I'm small), but it holds really well and the magnet is very strong as well. I have zero concerns any device I attached to it or any thing I wrap the wide velcro strap around is going to fail or fall. I'm not a pilot but I use my tablet for all sorts of things and this lets me be hands free in a seated position, and/or attach it around the strap of my carry-on in the airport waiting scenario...etc. also good around the headrest in a car. I ordered this item so that my mother would be able to hold her iPad on her knee more securely while she's lounging. What a terrific idea! I will say that she has some trouble threading the belt through the buckle and getting it to stay securely. There are troubles with it slipping off because the velcro doesn't hold very well. I do believe that some of this is "operator error" - so there's nothing wrong with the product itself, but I do believe the velcro could be a little bit stronger. Overall, this is a terrific product and anyone who has trouble with their phone or tablet should definitely consider this. There are rings provided for phones or tablets that do not have magnetic backing, and the magnets are incredibly strong. I do very much wish there were more detailed instructions for folks who don't have as much dexterity as we younger folks... I've included a snapshot of the instructions which are slightly lacking. This product has a good fit and even comes with an extension strap if needed. The quality is sound and not frilly easy to bend out of shape. Because the magnetic strength is pretty strong, I would always make it a point to only attach this item to the case or covering. It is extremely durable! Once I saw the ‘not much ease’ of removing the magnet from my device, I attached it to the cover instead immediately. This knee board is well made, and the magnets work quite well. It comes with two rings, and I was able to repurpose one of the rings to fit onto my kneeboard clipboard as that is more important for me to be able to detach. The iPad I can attach higher up on the plane. The magnet is not too strong or weak. The knee straps are reasonably sized and fit well. The pricing is a bit on the expensive side, I would usually purchase it for half of the currently listed price ($40). ... show more
