  • Worthless for precision work
Attractive table that looks like the high end table but it is not worth the aggravation of using it. There is side play of a 1/8 inch and the is backlash in the dial wheel of nearly half a turn. The gradient marks on the dials are just for show. there is no accuracy to be expected from a dial that rotates half a turn before anything moves. If the piece your are working on get in a bind the table will just jump/rotate rather than holding its position. I should have spent more an a better quality/precision table. ... show more

  • Ok for casual hobby use (with some unplanned setup pain included absolutely free)
Get yourself a teaspoon of silicone grease ready and 1) Apply lightly by finger to the screw threads under the bed. 2) Smear a light coat on the ways (not much was applied by OEM). 3) I used electric motor oil (it's heavy) in an old inkjet refill bottle (has a handy needle spout) to add a couple drops of oil into the screw thread ends (no real bearings here, so the oil helps). The silicone oil I had on the shelf was too light imho. 4) The supplied studs that are used to turn the handles have too much diameter on the head end (or spinner handle end was drilled undersized more likely): I had to reduce the diameter of the stud heads so the the spinning handles would actually spin. I turned the stud heads lightly against a grinding wheel a couple times to accomplish that downsizing. Apply silicone grease to stud shaft and head end socket before screwing the studs in. 5) Tolerance is about +- 0.01 inch travel possible in either direction (like I said, "casual hobby use"). 6) Given the quality and the entry level price, I would have given it 4 stars. However, I had a real challenge mounting this milling table on the "Lukcase Floor Drill Press Stand Table for Drill Workbench Repair Tool Clamp for Drilling Collet, drill Press Table" (ie. Amazon p/n 9282615). Based on the supplied info in and pictures on the boxes, the table and the stand appear to be made by the same company, so you'd expect them to fit together without issue, but not so. Apparently one part is made on Mars and the other on Venus. I was barely able to get 1/4-20 x 1 1/2" carriage bolts to line up (even crookedly) between the drill press stand and the milling table base. There's no way you're going to get 5/16" bolts in there. I've enclosed a picture: It's sloppy, not professional looking whatsoever, but hopefully functional. It's definitely not convenient for removing the table from the base if you would want to do that frequently. HTH Revised 2/16/18: I added a pic of the two white strips that were in my package. ... show more

  • Worth every penny!
I ordered this X Y milling table to assist in drilling parallel holes in aluminum. You can spend a lot more money and get a much better model but this one is worth every penny. It's probably not for professional use but it is all you need when a 1000th her and there don't matter. If I break this one I would buy it again. ... show more

  • Good for the price.
This unit does habe a little backlash but I am not doing things that require 1 millionth accuracy. It works fine for me as a beginner for the cost I think it is a good part..

  • Get what you pay for! You may be familiar with this saying because it’s true.
I was retrofitting this wonderful e-bike motor controller into an inappropriate controller base (cast aluminum) and needed to mill a platform down about a quarter of an inch. I have a cheap harbor freight drill press, with rather inexpensive AUTOTOOLHOME 1/8" 3/16" 1/4" 5/16" 3/8" 1/2"high Speed Steel HSS 4 Flute Straight End Mill bits. Once bolted in place this table seems somewhat sturdy. I secured my work piece, and went to town. I moved the table slowly (due to the nature of the cut (side loading my bit) at about ~2600 rpms. Feeding steadily I noted a lot of chatter/ table slop even when drilling in the center of the tables reach. The knobs are cheap and one of mine binds. There was minimal irregularities on the face of my milled work, but not near today’s machining standards. I was able to complete the task without trouble, and I’m really satisfied with how it came out for the price l spent. Obviously this won’t last forever, if you’re looking for a real milling table, then you probably wouldn’t be looking in the <$50 price range. ... show more

  • Nice little table for the cost
Saw lots of reviews when I was looking at this with people complaining about accuracy, come on if you want a tool that is amazingly accurate to thousands of an inch, pay amazingly amounts of money. I personally do not need huge accuracy, I need a device I can afford and meets my needs. This little guy does that. ... show more

  • Dangerous
This product is frankly dangerous. There is significant play in the rails that accounts for at least 1/4 of an inch of movement. This makes the bit jump when milling, resulting in inaccurate cuts, rough milling, and can cause backlash. If all you're cutting is Styrofoam, balsa wood, and very soft materials maybe this table is acceptable. But anything more substantial is going to be a matter of time before someone gets hurt. ... show more

  • Ok im suprised
Its definitely a useable xy axis for my drill press. Its stout enough to drill holes. Not so sure id put one under a vertical mill though.
