I bought these metal spikes as a deterrent for my carport support brackets because i had finches and other small birds trying to build nests inside of peak supports and these worked beautifully. I put a 1" by 1" wooden block inside the support arms to raise it up so height wouldn't be a problem and then i placed these spikes inside in the center along with the short plastic ones on each side and now there's no room for the birds to land or build a nest. And what i like about these metal spikes is they are not assembled and every strip measures 13⁹/¹⁶ and 20 criss cross spike slots so you can add as many as you need or as few as you need in whatever space/void you are trying to fill and even cut the strips to a custom size with aviation/tin snips. There's truly a way to solve any problem you just have to apply your mind to figure out a solution and have the willingness to fix the problems at hand. Easy to assemble. Had issue with small birds landing outside window and chewing through the window screens. Used double sided tape to attach to brick - have worked! Birds are in the trees/yard and not landing on window sills.

The local birds were in mating mode and thus determined to build a nest. (This occurs throughout mating season every year.) This time, the birds built a nest 4-5 times, in the same location, during the period I was having some work done on my house. Each time the workers had to remove the nest to continue their work. (No baby birds were in the nests yet at the time.) After the house repairs were completed, I asked the workers to put the bird spikes up where the birds had been attempting to nest. (When they nest, the bird parents, then the babies, poop on the walkway and house rafters. It looks horrible and is messy to walk through. After the bird spikes were installed, the birds haven't been back! Yay! No more bird poop! Now if only I can figure out a way to prevent the birds from perching on the kids' basketball backboard and net ring. There's poop on them and the ground below, too. Yuck! I don't think the spikes would work; the basketball would get punctured. Any suggestions would be helpful. 😁 So far, these bird spikes work great! ... show more

These worked great to keep the bird's from building nests on our covered deck. We now purchased a second set to use for squirrels jumping from the railing of our deck onto the bird feeder. Unfortunately this didn't work for brown birds. Maybe it's because my roof is at angle and they would somehow get between there. But no problems with pigeons. But I took the spikes down and reconstructed the gazebo. That solved the problem.
