I tested out both the green tones set and the earth tones set. The pens write fairly well, color chart shows both sets. It is hard to get a good picture of the glitter tones, but they are all indeed greenish or brownish, some are just so glittery that they read as silver in the picture. Strangely, the green tones set has numbered refills that match the numbered refills in the pens, but the earth tones set has no numbering at all. The cases are really crappy, the one case split open and the pens fell out just from the slight pressure of putting the pen back into the case. For me, this is not really an issue, I rarely keep gel pens in the case they come in, but mentioning this for those who do. If all you want are green and earth tones, then I guess this might be worth paying the higher cost to get only those colors. Honestly though, all of the colors can be found in any number of other sets that are only slightly more expensive and which have as many as 100 other colors to boot. I can't recommend these sets because of that. Just makes no sense to pay a lot for 24 colors when you can add another 5 to 10 bucks, get all of the 24 colors in one of these sets plus 100 more. I give three stars because the pens do actually write well, I take off two stars because I was expecting something in the quality or the colors to set them apart and that did not happen. ... show more

I definitely recommend OfficeGoods Earth Tone gel pens . I colored a page from Garden of Joy by Sabine Design on smooth cardstock paper using all 24 colors and they worked nicely. A couple of the light colors were a bit scratchy but for the most part they glided well and the ink was nice and smooth. They dry quickly and do not smear. They blend beautifully. They probably would work just as well on any type of paper. My other gel pen sets do not provide a lot of these earth tone colors so I am glad to have purchased this set and will be purchasing more refills in the future. This is such a unique pallet a really beautiful earthy colors. My mother loves to use gel pens in her artwork and she draws Whimsical Woodland scenes. She was very excited to receive this gel pen pack. They all worked wonderfully but the yellow pen seemed to be dried out. I contacted the seller to inquire about the possibility of a replacement cartridge and they were just lovely to me. They sent out a brand new yellow gel pen AND to my great surprise and Delight, a full set of replacement cartridges for the entire earth tones gel pen set! The person who helps me was kind and prompt with the response. When the replacement pen and surprise ink refills arrived there was also a really lovely letter apologizing for the mix-up with a dried out pen and even some suggestions on ways to use the pens. I would 100% buy this product from this seller or any other product from the seller again. ... show more

Great assortment of browns. 3 greens, 2 silvers, 3 golds and 3 odd matte pastels: flesh, yellow cream and pale pink. 6 matte pens, 12 glitter, 6 metallic. The glitter charcoal black is beautiful.

Overall this is a decent set of pens. I’m happy to find a set comprised solely of earth tones but there a couple of things that disappoint me. The description says that it includes reds. I was hoping for a brick red or dark wine color. There are a couple of browns with reddish undertones but not really any red shades. I also wish there was more ink. I have several gel pen sets that have larger diameter ink tubes which allows for quite a bit more ink per pen. This set is really not a good value compared to other sets that offer a larger quantity and more ink per pen for a comparable price. This may or may not meet your needs - it depends on your expectations. If you really want just earth tones, this set is a good choice, but if you are coloring large areas, these definitely won’t last long. Edited 6/11/20 to add: I have since purchased the other sets (with the exception of the gray to black tone). Economically, these are still not the best deal for the number of pens and amount of ink, but I love being able to purchase the refills by tone. Also, 5+ stars for customer service!! I received a torn package with one of the sets. The pens were fine, but fell through the large tear in the bottom of the package. I requested a replacement package (sans pens) from OfficeGoods. They promptly mailed one to me, along with a complimentary set of gray to black tone pens. Lesley also took the time to review my past orders, noting I had purchased the other sets and sent a color chart for every set - that was the most thrilling part!     • For those who use a LOT of GREEN and need many shades

Do you use a lot of green, and always seem to run out of that color or not have enough shades? WHY I LOVE THIS SET! MATTE/SHEEN - It has matte and some with a bit of sparkle. I thought the sparkle, glitter would be too much, it's NOT! it's subtle and just adds a bit of POP, especially if I am usually mostly matte colors. QUANTITY of GEL PENS AND SHADES! - There are SO many shades of green! If I am working on a jungle scene, I can vary the greens a LOT because so many to choose from. REFILLS! - extra perk is it has REFILLS, so if I am using a lot of one shade, I have a back up refill. I HATE it when I am working with one shade and I realize I don't have a back up for that shade. These come with refills and you can buy more refills. SEEMS to have a lot of ink and it FLOWS beautifully! PRICE - was hard to find exactly what I wanted re just green and this is it. The fact the price is great is a bonus. BOTTOMLINE: Would DEFINITELY get this again, although I doubt I will need to as it not only comes with refills, but I can get more refills. ... show more
