Great match for my Leap V2. Works well. Even manufacturer is the same. Height only looks different here because old one was stuck extended. Watch a video for install. You’ll want a hefty pipe wrench (14” wired well for me).

Prior to getting this product, I confirmed my office chair had the proper 28mm and 50mm gas lift dimensions, which is a standard size for most chairs that use gas cylinders. Unfortunately, this gas cylinder is tapered, so it does not fit standard cylinder chairs. More specifically, the top is tapered from 26.4mm to 28.17mm, which makes it impossible for a standard 28mm chair to sit safely and securely on the 26.4mm cylinder. Similarly, the bottom is tapered from 40.5mm to 48mm, requiring a very high wheel base to fit. I used a caliper to measure all of these metrics. For my chair, the gas cylinder goes through the wheel base and touches the floor before it can be held by the base opening.

This replacement office chair cylinder is a great fit on my 15 + year old AICO brand office chair. I know the company I work for purchased 3 dozen chairs that were being discontinued when they built our new offices in 2009-2010 along with wood desks and side pieces for the office of the owner, CEO and CFO. The chairs are very comfortable. In the last few months, my chair would no longer stay down. The cylinder would just go up without anyone sitting in it. I found multiple videos online about removing the chair cylinder. One suggested removing the seat from the chair and another recommended using a pipe wrench to twist the post that goes into the mechanism attached to the seat. Both recommend using a bucket to support the base of the chair with the wheels facing the ceiling. Then using a dead blow hammer, sledge or regular hammer to drive the cylinder out of the chair base. I chose the method that showed removing the chair seat. This method made the chair compact and lighter for me to handle. This cylinder fit into my chair. My chair operates like it did when it was new. My chair has a tilt feature and that is built into a plastic enclosure attached to the under side of the seat. That still works great too. I have several coworkers that are starting to have problems with their chairs too. I am rating this cylinder replacement 3 stars based on the value. The price at the time of this review it is $42. I find no difference from this cylinder to the cylinder on inexpensive chairs I own at home and also comparing them to other cylinders for sale on Amazon. The other cylinders sell for about 40-50% less at the time of this review. I do recommend this product at a price that is more in line with the other chair cylinders on Amazon. This cylinder is rated at 300 lbs and 4 1/2 inch lift. I am comparing it to products that have at least this rating.

It fits and works perfectly in my Leap V2. a little pricey compared to a regular top activated cylinder, but totally worth it if you want to extend the life of your chair.
