I purchased this for to have a fero rod on a keychain with added perks. Unfortunately the saw, bottle opener and other accessories are a folded metal clip which is detachable..... and is easily lost. Maybe they should work on a more secure way to attach it. So three days after receiving this survival tool it fell off. It still has a striker rod, compass, thermometer, whistle and blade sharpener so ill carry it until i find something better. ... show more

    • Good for any bag.
Haven't used it yet, except the sharpener. Whistle is loud. Cheap button compass, but it works.. This is great for a hiker, or a bug out bag. The lil clip tool is really cool.

    • Compass doesn't work and the rods fall out.
Kind of expensive for what it is and the rods like to fall out but a touch of Gorilla super glue takes care of that. Compass is cheap and doesn't work, I know where North is and this thing won't point to it. But since I only wanted it for the magnesium at fire rods I'm not disappointed.

    • Plastic, not aluminum, and thermometer bad.
This tool is described as aluminum-bodied, even on the packaging right next to the tool, but it's actually plastic. Also the thermometer reads 10-15 degrees too low, possibly because of the plastic body, so it's useless for freeze or other warning. Other aspects of the tool seem good. Off Grid Tools customer service didn't respond to my request for an aluminum-bodied replacement. With plastic body and useless thermometer, it wasn't worth the nearly 20 bucks, so I returned it. ... show more

got the thing and immediately tested it out. Knife sharpener is awesome! the magnesium rod makes shavings and the ferrel rod works well too. whistle works great . Finally i like the temperature gauge and compass too!
