  • This Book is AWESOME!
I give this book 5 stars because it taught me several valuable lessons, neither of which I expected from the title. Lesson One: Always, always, ALWAYS read at least the first few pages of a book if offered. If I had done so, I would have noticed that this book is almost entirely unintelligible. It reads as if it were written in a foreign language and then converted to English using Google Translate. From page one of the Introduction, this gem: “The get together of semiconductors and hardware, or solar powered cells is remembered for a photovoltaic module, usually known as a solar power board.” Following closely is one of my favorite passages: “While picking a heap for the solar power system, it is vital to begin a low vitality segment before introducing extra sunlight-based modules to abstain from squandering resources.” Now, I can tolerate “stylistic” differences – especially if they are entertaining - if there is still valuable information to be had. However, publishing outright inaccuracies is, to borrow from Churchill, an offense up with which I shall not put. From the bottom of page 58: “There are 3 different types of batteries.” Middle of page 95: “There are tons of different types of batteries…” - including my favorite, AGM, which the author clarifies means “(Annual General Meeting)”! This is after it is defined as “Absorbed Glass Mat” (p. 59) and “absorbent glass mat” (p. 83). Still, I have to give props to the author. Like the little kid on Bourbon Street who took me for $1, he gets my grudging respect for taking me for $12.95. Little Kid on Bourbons Street: “For $1, I can tell you where you got yo’ shoes!” Me: <gives him $1> Little Kid on Bourbon Street: “You got yo’ shoes on Bourbon Street!” Well played, both of you. I stated above that the book taught me two valuable lessons. The second one is the basis for my 5-star rating: Lesson Two: Absolutely ANYONE can publish a book. This book is tangible, irrefutable, inspiring proof that we can all get paid for writing books even if they are not well-written, edited, accurate, or even internally consistent. THAT is a lesson worth the price. ... show more

  • Good starting point
Goes over the basics. Some things are repeated, but you can over it as a review or just move. I would recommend this book. Easy to read.

  • ChatGBT?
This book is not worth paying for. I did not learn anything from the book, it is written very poorly and contains only the most basic solar power information. Many chapters are repeated information and there are numerous grammar or word errors on every page. I often wondered is it was written by AI, it was certainly never proofread. ... show more

  • Beginners guide
This is a good book for a beginner who is looking into this lifestyle. It is lacking on Electrical code considerations. Someone who has been doing this for a while won't learn anything new.

  • Good book, gives general understanding.
Good book, easy read, gives the reader a very basic understanding of solar systems. Will need to do more extensive research before building.

  • A joke
This book is an absolute joke! Garbage, who on earth learns a tech subject from a book with zero diagrams , pictures, drawings, nothing! Just written words! As soon as I got mine I sent it back, whenever you see a book published with no pictures it means it's someone trying to con people out of thier money! trust me you will never learn solar power from this book. Stay away! ... show more
