    • Excellent paddle for the price
One of the events I offer as a side gig, is kayaking trips. I have a large cargo trailer full of rental kayaks and nearly every year, I have to replace 2-3 paddles that get broken or otherwise wear out during the year. I've never bought an OceanBroad paddle before, so I figured I'd give it a try. First off, the lockup on the shaft sections is really nice. Hopefully I can keep it that way. I find that waterproof medical tape around the shaft connection is a good way to keep silt from infiltrating into the joint and causing premature loosening or other failures. Also, because I have a trailer large enough to do so, I don't ever take them apart. I assemble them, I lock down the connection so you can't set the 60 degree feathering angle, and I just store them like that until they wear out. If you can, that's the way to store them for maximum service life. If you really feel like it, filling in the holes for the spring button where the shafts connect with some kind of waterproof sealant--I use poly resin--will also prevent water and silt infiltration. In any case, this paddle feels really nice and solid and, with a little care, I hope it lasts a long time. It's a pretty budget-priced paddle, so I wasn't expecting much, and it has exceeded my expectations. If my opinion changes when I get it out on the water once the warm weather is back, I will update, but for now, it seems like a great paddle for the price, definitely more sturdy than similarly-priced ones at budget big-box stores. ... show more

I ordered this paddle to use as a spare, or for guests or friends to use. My own paddles are higher-end carbon and considerably lighter than this paddle, but they cost fifteen times what this paddle costs. For the money, this is really quite a nice paddle. PROS: • The paddle joins with a simple push-pin connection, and the paddle can be joined with no offset in the blade angles, or about 60 degrees of feather either way. The joint is solid with very little play. I measured the assembled length at 86 inches/218.5cm. • The blades are quite stiff, very good for injection molded plastic and they have a nice contoured shape. • The paddle shafts are sealed with a plug of foam which should keep water from collecting inside the shafts. That’s helpful as the paddle will get heavier if the shafts fill with water. • The drip rings, which keep water from running down the shaft onto your hands, are made from a solid, substantial rubber material. CONS: • I weighed the assembled paddle at 35.8 ounces. That’s a little heavy, but not bad for an inexpensive paddle. • The aluminum shafts are round with no ovalized areas at the grip positions. OVERALL: • I’m quite impressed with this paddle for the money. It feels well made, and the weight is appropriate for an inexpensive paddle.     • Looks and Feels Sturdy
It's between Christmas and New Years, so I won't be getting out for a paddle for several months, but I did put this together and it looks like it will work very well. I've never used a fancy carbon fiber $100-$200 paddle before, so I don't know what they do that makes them better (other than being lighter), but I have used a number of these aluminum and plastic kayak paddles before and this seems just like all the others... if not even a bit sturdier. The push button used to connect the two pieces together locks in place with a positive snap and won't come undone and doesn't wobble around from having holes just a little too big. I really like that the drip rings seem very secure where they sit. Far enough away from the middle that they won't interfere with my hands, but far enough from the end of the paddle that I won't be dragging them through the water with each stroke.     • Really nice and sturdy 2 piece paddle black
These are really nice paddles, I usually prefer a solid pole but these are so sturdy I can’t tell they are not. I also love that you have different offset options where the two pieces connect with a push button, makes padding much easier to have the blades at a different angles from one another. These also fit in my car so much easier than solid poles. Nice they offer different color options too, especially when you have a tandem kayak and two people that like their paddle at a different degree, it’s easy to tell who’s is who’s.
