Says it comes with a paddle leash, does not come with that. Doesn't seem like it will hold up much, any flexing of the paddle sounds like it's cracking. Probably should have bought one with better reviews. Edit: customer service reached out and replaced this item, the new one seems higher quality for sure. Could possibly have been damaged in shipping as Amazon packs them in a ridiculously oversized box with no packing material to cushion it from flopping around.

I have some quite pricey and very nice AquaBound paddles that I usually use with my kayaks, but when I lend out a boat to a friend or neighbor, I am always nervous about giving them one of the nice paddles for fear they will use them improperly and crack or break them. I decided something strong and adjustable would be ideal for that purpose, and this OCEANBROAD paddle seemed to fit the bill. At less than fifteen percent of the price of my other paddles I wasn’t expecting much at around forty-two dollars, but I was pleasantly pleased with this paddle. The aluminum shaft with carbon insert is plenty strong, but I will say the paddle is definitely heavier than my fully carbon fiber paddles at around 2.5-pounds, so if you use it for several hours your arms will tire faster than if using a carbon-fiber shaft, but it is lighter than fiberglass. The listing does not mention of what material the blades are constructed, but they appear to be polypropylene blades, possibly fiberglass reinforced, and they seem to be plenty durable and should be able to take a beating, such as pushing off a rock or scraping a gravel riverbed. Where this paddle shines is in its adjustability. My nicer paddles are fixed in length, but this paddle adjusts from 94-inches to 102-inches (240cm to 260cm), so it can work well with a variety of differently sized individuals or with boats that have wide or narrow hulls. It’s a little long for children or short folks, so keep that in mind. Assembly was straightforward and it is quick and easy to adjust the length, and I like that you can offset the angle of each paddle blade if you wish. The notch in the blade for fishing line is a nice feature for folks that will use these for fishing. These adjust simply by pushing in the stainless-steel button to actuate a snap ring that can snap back in place in a different setting. If I have any nitpicks, it is the following (but at this price, it’s nothing worth deducting a star for): - Because of how these adjust, if you decide to add foam or silicone padding, the padding may cover some of the adjustment holes and it would cover some of the measurement markings. - One of my blades was somewhat warped. I’ll try and show a picture, although the warping does not seem to show well in pictures. It’s not awful, but it’s not great either. - My paddle did not come with the advertised leash. I was also amazed that the paddle arrived undamaged, because it was shipped just in a plastic bag and not a box. Despite my nitpicks, so far it seems to be a good value for what you get with this paddle as long as you don’t get a warped blade. If anything doesn’t hold-up, I will return to update this review. EDIT: 07/03/2024. The seller reached out to me about my issues with the warped blade and missing leash, and they immediately sent me a replacement. The replacement arrived well packaged in a large box and the new paddle has no warping problems, and this package came with the leash. This seller stands behind their product so know that if you order this and it arrives damaged, if you have photos that indicate the damage, the seller is very reputable, and they will rectify any issues for you. Because of their great customer service and the replacement being free from any defects, I have added a star back to my review.

I own two of the pictured Sevylor inflatable kayaks. I have two corresponding Caviness paddles that have served me well for some 20-odd years. Although I can manage using the Caviness paddle for a full day, it is relatively heavy and difficult for a juvenile or adult-of-slight-build to manage. I ordered this Oceanbroad fishing kayak paddle and I am impressed on several counts. It is lighter than the Caviness, especially at the blade. The Caviness blade is thicker, has less flex and, I suppose, better durability. Having said that, it is hard to imagine a scenario where the thinner and more flexible Oceanbroad blade would bend or break in recreational use. Remember, this is not some ultralight carbon fiber high end paddle. This is a reasonable compromise of weight and strength for the average Joe/Josephine. I also like the asymmetrical blade which creates a better “bite” on each stroke. As a fisherman I appreciate the little details like the hook remover and the small angle cutout (pictured) that allows you to “grab” the dock, a rock, or another kayak. Another detail I like is the ruler printed along the paddle shaft. Obviously, if you are using the paddle in any extended manner (I use it at the maximum extension) you can only measure a fish 19” or less. If the fish is larger, you will have to compress the two sides together over the inner shaft to get the ruler continuation (see photos). Although I use my kayak paddles with the blades on one plane, the Oceanbroad offers adjustments for those weirdos who prefer offset blades. There is a small retainer bungee included which might be helpful while floating through “frog water” on the river or stopping to eat lunch on the lake, however, I think it's more of a novelty than something I will likely use. The price point ($45+) is very competitive with comparable paddles. The whole package between price, build, and features earns five stars in my opinion.

Really don't have anything negative to say about this kayak paddle. Super lightweight and easy to put together. Spring pins on both sides of the central connector fit into the holes on each paddle. One paddle has a single fixed connection hole. The other paddle has multiple holes to allow adjustments to the paddle's overall length. Comes with a bungee style attachment leash to keep your paddle tied to your kayak in case you tip over (not much "in case" about it - I know in our house my kids make it a mission to ensure that EVERYONE going out on the kayaks tips over at least once - so good to know this is there to help your paddle stay close by). I will say that at it's longest length, you do get some semi-sharp pinch points where the metal ends of the paddle portions connect into the main central connector shaft (see picture of finger pointing). However, that's pretty minimal and not anywhere that you'd be placing your hands while paddling anyway, so I don't think it's anything worth dinging a star over. All in all, this is a really nice looking adjustable kayak paddle that I'm excited to take out on the bay this weekend and play around with. Enjoy your summer sun!!

I received the package and did not get the leash for kayak. I contacted their customer service 2 weeks ago and have not heard back. Paddle is pretty good. You could probably find something same quality but cheaper elsewhere. Still waiting to hear back to get the leash.
