  • Lightweight, Great Value, Amazing Customer service!!
Color: Green
Lightweight, Great Value, Crisp Comfortable Feel.!! I've had a few aluminum paddles over the years, and was intrigued by a carbon fiber shaft. I've taken it out once on a classII-III river and was delighted by the crisper feel to it, I know, not a typical term to use to describe a paddle. It obviously was related to the lighter weight of the paddle....I just felt more confident with sudden....turns...reversing...etc. I can say with certainty that at end of day, shoulder fatigue was less. It would be nice if there were grip-type material where hands grab shaft....but for me, I wear gloves, making the point moot. I expect to use this for years, a testament to it's durability. OK, here's what happened, I ordered a yellow...got a green...brought it up with company...and w/in minutes!!... they reassured me, said would just send an extra yellow, told to keep green as back-up..!! I was floored. Customer service of this company I'd rate the very highest...of any company ever...whether we're talkin paddles, furniture, cars, food.....Really, they were That attentive, prompt, and genuinely interested in making things right. I would not hesitate to recommend this item at the very highest level!!! ... show more

These are a godsend, especially if you get shoulder pain or back pain. They are so much lighter than the stock ones and they are adjustable.and comes with the lanyard strap to clip to yourself or your kayak or boat.these make the day better especially when you forget how far you’ve paddled out and it’s time to head back. ... show more

  • Carbon fiber but very thin.
Color: Red
I used this one day and like it well enough. I can really move the water, the paddle end is sturdy and well designed for moving water. Very light weight and thick enough poke for a 5’10 225# guy to grip all day with no issues. I think a lady would do very well also. I have used it as a lever to get off rocks with no issues, rather surprised at the strength. Mine is a full carbon tube and I worked with carbon fiber as a carbon fiber technician so yes I know a carbon tube. The thin tube is prone to bulging around the push button holes. Can’t be helped with a light weight tube like this. Wish the carbon was a 1/16 thicker. Changed length easily and can be shifted 45 degrees for off set paddles CW or CCW or even. The tube is perfectly round and not oval so I had to look to see how to set the paddle if I lost the grip. A oval rods enable the rower to know by feel how to hold the paddle. Oval is better but not at this price point and it loses the ability to cant the paddles 45 degrees CW or CCW by simply twisting the the center to the next notch. I think this is great for light to medium use, definitely not for the company or business with hard daily use. The tube is too delicate for rentals. For personal use with a person who is not a gorilla I think it will work great. ... show more

Nice--lightweight, rigid and inexpensive. Made in China, unfortunately.

  • There's a bit of a trade-off to achieve compactness
Color: Blue
I think it's a break-down paddle perhaps suitable for an inflatable kayak owner, if only that the break-down feature lasts, which it might not. Maybe plan on frequent disassembly or when ever not actively paddling, or else the whole thing seizes together. A disassembly of the center section by prying off an end cap would allow access to the button springs for rinsing clean off saltwater ingress. Springs would be made of steel, and subject to rusting, and failure of the buttons to lock the assembly. It's adjustable - long to short and to feather the blades in different orientations. Minimum insertion of the center piece when fully extended is only 3.5 inches an other customers complain of breakage. The open adjustment holes can take on water and create a heavy side unless taped over. Electrical tape? ... show more

  • Lighter, stronger and adjustable!
Color: White
I've only used this once but for a low priced paddles i think it is worth it. Added better drip rings. Nice leash too! Tried it adjusted a little larger and was perfect. That to me is the icing on the cake, use it in your fishing kayak and then a simple adjustment and use for your rec kayak. Would i stress it out by bridging on every and exit? Probably hard on it but it's built sturdy for the weight and price. ... show more

  • Not much bite
Color: Black
If you just want to say you have a paddle with some carbon fiber in it, then buy this. I trust them that it's there. It is also not a bad value. However, I would recommend other options for a similar price if you just want the best paddle for your money. I have a Bending Branches Whisper that I used before this. It is only slightly more expensive. It's aluminum, but only weighs about 3 ounces more. And it gets a lot more bite on each stroke. I felt like I was paddling with a broom stick when I first switched to this Oceanbroad paddle. It seemed like i wasn't getting anywhere. I got much more power and traveled farther with each stroke with my other paddle. I also don't like that I have to hold part of the shaft that has holes in it when I use this at its longest setting. It is not comfortable to hold it in that area. Personally, if I wanted a cheap paddle, I would go with the basic paddle from a big sporting goods store. If I want light, I would go with a more expensive carbon fiber paddle - lighter than this and more efficient paddling. If I want value and balance, I would go with the Whisper, especially when it's on sale. There is nothing wrong with this paddle - it works, and seems strong enough. I don't think it will break easily and strand you anywhere. But any benefit you think you are getting from carbon fiber will be lost by all the extra strokes you need to take to move through the water. And it is really not that lightweight. ... show more
