  • Great for Beginners, An Amazing Gift!
Style: Modern
The media could not be loaded. This intrument came well packaged, the Ocarina itself is very well made, it has good weight yo it, and the necklace is a good complimentary addition. This is my first ocarina, however, as a musician I can tell that it has amazing sound when played correctly. As far as if the notes are on point, that I am not positive about. Overall, this is a great product for beginners, and a great gift for your keiki "kids" and/or hobbyist! I'd highly reccomend it. A++ ... show more

  • A gift for my 13-yr-old daughter that was better than hoped for
Style: Modern
My youngest turned 13 this summer, and I chose this ocarina as one of her gifts (along with a Hal Leonard Ocarina Method book and a Legends of Zelda songbook). She was completely delighted, which in turn delighted me. The pottery ocarina was well made with a beautiful blue and black glaze. It gives good sound, fits well in your hands, and is pretty to look at. It did not come with a neck cord to feed through the extra holes in the ocarina that we assume are for a cord, but I am going to try a leather cord for her and see if that affects the sound quality. It came with a nice protective zipper case, but we are going to come up with a padded leather crossbody bag for her to carry it in when she wants to take it out and about with us. In less than an hour, my daughter was playing "Happy Birthday" for me--which was great, because at her age she refuses to let our family sing the song to her in person. Ritual safely observed for another offspring, for another year. ;) ... show more

  • Great fro a beginner like me
Style: Starry Purple
Nice quality from what I know as someone just picking up the ocarina for fun. The actual ocarina looks very nice and fits nicely in the hand, although it's much heavier than I thought it would be. Some of the notes are a little pitchy, but for a 20 dollar ocarina that I bought to see if I even liked playing, I'd say it's worth the money. It's a good starter to learn how to play. It comes with a hard case to put it in to protect it and a string with nice beads on it to use as the wrist strap. It comes with a small song book of beginner songs, including Zelda's Lullaby. My cats friggin' hate it. It's very fun. ... show more

  • May the sounds of beautiful harmonies sore through the skies!
Style: Modern
The media could not be loaded. If you are a huge Zelda fan like me, you probably loved the beautiful melodies of the Song Of Time, Sara's Lullaby, Song Of Storms and the many other wonderful harmonies and what a joy it would be to learn how to play your own music on an Ocarina. This Ocarina was just right for me starting out. It was a toss up on what color and design I wanted, being they are all quite nice. I finally decided to go with the pretty Ocean like blue with black. I did measure this Ocarina along the top and it is 7 in a half inches long. Fairly good size and weight. Easy to grip and hold. Note: This Ocarina is fragile being made from porcelain ceramic, so do handle with care. Comes with a lovely easy open and close black zipper case with strap. So you can take it anywhere in your travels. Also, a booklet that shows you how to play it, with some songs you can learn and lovely necklace. I have not learned how to play it yet. So I can't say the sound is perfect, but the few notes I did play sound quite nice. This would make a lovely gift for any Zelda fan and is a pretty unique piece of art to have displayed. ... show more

  • good tune
Style: Royal Blue
it's hard to find an amateur-priced ocarina that holds an accurate pitch. this one has "almost" perfect tune! acceptable for casual playing without unnervingly off pitches.

  • Congrats to AWEF on great ocarinas !
As a celtic tinwhistle player, I wanted a more hobbit-like sound option. So purchased both Awef Ocean Notes and Joy Wood Thrush. To compare after 1week, the Joy model is a bit easier to play (a little less air), more accurate notes, but a bit less ‘breathy’ sound. The Ocean Notes takes a little more practice to get a nice sound, is more airy, almost dreamy. Well made. I love them both !!! ... show more

  • Worth it
I bought a total of four ocarinas, as I had played them in the past and rediscovered the joy of them and also the need for one to help as a pitch pipe for my voice to sing in different keys. Of all the four I bought, including a $100 one, this one is the best. It is the best in tune, the easiest to place fingers, it produces the best sound, including the higher notes that were significantly harder on the higher priced ones. I’m no expert by any means, but I come from a long line of professional musicians who make their living by playing music, and I play by ear as well as others do by sheet music. For the price, this is an excellent ocarina. I highly recommend it for the price. And it is also pretty. That’s the icing. ... show more
