I had an old tree stand that was never quite great. A few times our tree would fall, so I began using monofilament to secure to the wall. This year, I decided to buy a new stand. After some brief research, I decided on this one. My only regret is not buying it sooner. It held my 7-8ft real tree perfectly. My old stand had 3 screws, but this one has 5, so it really secured the trunk. I liked the large capacity for water. This tree sucked up lots of water for days, so the large capacity was needed. With that said, the stand is deeper than my old stand, so when getting your tree, be sure to have them trim enough branches from the bottom so that it fits. Otherwise, have your hacksaw ready. Now that Christmas has passed, I just disposed of the tree. My only warning is to be mindful of the 5 little nuts that attach to the end of each screw. They get stuck in the sap of the tree and sometimes get embedded to the tree trunk when unscrewing. If you don’t check, you might throw out your tree and find you are missing those pieces. It happened with my old stand, so I always know to check before disposing the tree. They can always be replaced with a trip the the hardware store, if you lose them. This is a quality, sturdy product. If my cat was still alive, I’d even feel confident that she couldn’t tip it over with this stand. That’s saying something! lol ... show more

This is a BIG tree stand (if you get large). I have a 10 foot and it fit w/o problem. The screws are long enough, but they have these bolt ends, which are supposed to buttress the tree, and which spin onto the end of the screw (about 3 turns and not firmly). However, they fall off when you're adjusting the tree and then fall deep in the stand, and sometimes UNDER the tree stump (which has an elevating piece of metal on the bottom). It gets worse if you really have a fresh tree because those bolts get absorbed into the bark, and when you go to make adjustments, the bolts stay in the tree or fall off into the water. I had to rig it with wood blocks (see picture). DO NOT BUY THIS unless the only thing you care about is SIZE! It should be called frustration in a box! An option is to buy small wood blocks/shims and not use the annoying bolt buttresses. But, I understand, Size Matters! ... show more

I used this stand for an 8" tree and had no issues. It's a very sturdy base and I'm confident I can use it for larger trees. It can hold a lot of water, making it nice not to have to fill it as often as others.

Great product, BUT review the return policy first! If you open any of the bags inside the box the return policy changes. We planned to buy a real Christmas tree then changed our mind and wanted to return the product… but since we opened the bags inside we could only get a %50 refund

My cat climbed up the fake tree, knocked it down and the plastic stand broke. We were about to trash this beautiful $400 tree, when we decided to try this stand. We filled it with rocks and put the tree in it! Amazing! It worked like a charm.
