I surf 3 time a week or more and never wear booties. I injured my foot and kept opening up the wound every time i woud surf. So i bought these super freak reef boots to protect my foot while it heals. Im actually very stoked on these. They are very light and fit true to size. Best part is board feel. The soles are thin and you hardly even know youre not barefoot. Best part for sure!! They came super fast. In time for a freak summer swell so even better! If youre on the fence on these id say hit it! Theyre pretty dern sweet. Im gonna take em with me on my next surf trip for sure. They will save your feet from the reef! ... show more

I really wish they made these in half sizes. I am a true size 11 and while these fit perfectly out of the water, once I was surfing they stretched and get so loose when I’d pop up to catch a wave that sometime the toe divider would shift over. Long story short, I think a 10.5 would fix this but they don’t have half sizes. Ordered a 10 after my El Salvador trip but they were just too small. Other than that, these are probably the best reef booties on the market. Crucial for me walking out at a bunch of rocky points in El Salvador! First time using reef booties and I’m a fan! Just gotta find something that fits perfect ... show more

Amazing water shoes but uncomfortable at times. - don't get a size smaller just stay with your true size or go 1/2 size smaller for a more snug feel. - I went with a full size smaller after reading reviews and damn! After an hour or so my toes feels numb because it's too tight. - the design of the shoe is similar to that of a sock which wraps around the ankle tightly but comfortably. The strap and draw cord provide a secure hold while surfing or in the water with a strong current. -The rubber sole provide protection but it's thin so you can feel rocks underneath but tolerable especially for Oceanside beach with its rocky floors. -works great for surfing and walking on hot sand/pavement -feels very comfortable against your naked feet when putting on and doesn't feel uncomfortable when getting wet with them as some water shoes do. -the slip toe is okay but because I went a full size smaller it hurts my big toe. -water shoes stretch a little bit but after 2 trips to the beach it does not stretch that much and have to take off to let my feet stretch out but if I would went my true size I know I could wear these bad boys all day. ... show more

I use these wingfoiling in all conditions down to about 55 degrees, then I go to a full 4mil boot. These protect really well on sharp surfaces (gravel) and from nasties (fishhooks, glass). They have very good traction on a wet board and with the arch strap and adjustable elastic top, your foot doesn't slop around and keeps sand from getting in. I go through a pair per year. The soles wear down a little and they get stretched out from use, and I use them a lot. I'm pretty happy with them. They fit my size 14 feet perfectly. ... show more

This boot from ONeil is quality. The sole has good tread and seems like it will last. Size is true to my normal shoe size. I order 1 size down because I like a very snug fit when sporting about in the water and some give over time is inevitable. Also because I get them small (and I like to minimize any possible hangups) I cut off the adjustable fidget at the heel area. The strap over the arch is enough and works well. I do prefer the solid sole under the split in the xcel and used to recommend the xcel split toe reef bootie and owned a few, but over time quality has suffered especially the soles durability since going to the gum colored material.
